Children of the Gods (Important poll #12306)

This talk about rape is going off-track.

Reality was different thousands years ago but when it comes to this idea of rape, it still pretty much fits our standards for motive … that is why it is important if Helen was kidnapped or if she left on her own. The Greek pursuit of war with Troy is a much different thing depending on Helen’s will here.

For the purpose of this WiP, honestly, I don’t think it matters one way or another. At least in the story as released so far. @Rohie is re-writing everything, so perhaps we should wait for her newest release before going further on this path of discussion?

For the record: Rape was considered a god’s right … it wasn’t normal, it wasn’t celebrated and it most certainly stained the woman; that was the tragedy inherit in most of the myths as written originally.

Umm I can’t get the demo to work. Anyone else have that problem? Same problem and then you can’t run it even if you download it right.

It’s probably because of the “dropbox stopped hosting html” thing that has been mentioned since… last month I believe.

I don’t know about everyone else but Dropbox forces my Mac to download of the game so in a way, it works but not the way it’s suppose to.

Ya; no browser support from Dropbox any longer. Downloaded is the only available option from them now.

We, as a community, probably have lost access to some really good older stories because of this; Dropbox, I hope, feels the hit with all of us leaving them.

Agreed.

I have been testing some of the other games that I am subscribed too and so far, Team Zero is the only one I cannot access in any form. //defeated sigh// Oh well.

On the bright side, the current version can be accessed even if it is via download. I can explore more while Rohie rewrites/revamps it.

Oh And I did a bust picture of the Trio of Poseidon to pass the time. Meet Evander (brown hair), Mia (red hair), and Echo (black hair with purple tips). Mind they’re still in the drafting phase.

Evander: A young Demigod boy and the Son of Poseidon. Evander is a playful young man whose carefree attitude hides a sharp, tactical mind and a highly intuitive . A former mercenary who had daily dealings with mystical beings, Evander tends to find more kinship with humans and the mythological beings rather than with other Demigods.

3 Fun Facts

  • Though he is equally as combat-oriented as the others in the Trio, Evander actually has the weakest starting Strength, preferring to simply subdue an opponent with Wit rather than outright harm them. That said, he also has the highest amount of Morality (Up to 72 by the start of the first Trial) and Allure.
  • Evander is quite a bookworm, and has a strong love for fantasy and legends in particular, though he’ll read just about anything (and find a room closer to the library if he could).
  • While strongly observant about a lot of things around him, Evander’s lack of experience in romance makes it difficult for him to realize when someone’s interest is beyond friendship or how some of his actions/words can come off as flirting. That said, he’s not naive, and once he becomes aware of someone’s interest and is equally as interested, it becomes a game of ‘is Evander actually being innocent right now, or is he just teasing the RO again?’

Mia: A young Demigod girl and the Daughter of Poseidon. Mia is a resourceful young woman who friendliness is as strong as her combat instincts. She has a tendency to draw many toward her and is quick to make both friends and enemies because of it. Many who know her mother would say that she is the perfect embodiment of what made Priscilla both loved and feared.

3 Fun Facts

  • Out of the other two, Mia has the most rounded starting Stats, all of them starting at 45. She sees being rounded enough to handle any situation as more important than specializing in one sole area.
  • She can’t stand arrogant guys. She’s met a number of male Demigods on Earth who were completely convinced that they were the Gods’ gift to woman and, needless to say, she is far from impressed by it.
  • While she values family, she will not hesitate to call her relatives out on something she doesn’t feel is right.

Echo: A young Demigod being and the Child of Poseidon. Echo is a reserved individual who keeps a lot to themselves and barely expresses any emotion. That said, they are quite passionate about their ideals and the people they love and can become fierce if pushed too much (hates being referred to as anything less than human). Echo tends to say things that hold more wisdom than those their age tend to harbor, as though echoing the words of people who have existed long before they had been born.

3 Fun Facts

  • Echo has the strongest starting Strength and Wit, but the lowest Allure out of the Trio. The low Allure is due to the fact they often say things quite bluntly and tends to view beating around the bush as a waste of time.
  • They have a habit of wandering wherever they please, much the chagrin of the people they may be travelling with.
  • They are known to use bow and arrows as their preferred weapon…as a handicap for their opponent, Despite their elegant appearance, Echo is a very fierce warrior once they engage in close combat and prefers giving their opponent a chance to run before things actually get serious.

I noticed that almost directly after my previous post, someone asked if we had half-brothers. @Xeno_King, I think.

The short answer to that is yes. The long answer is that Saint is your half-brother through, Priscilla, your mother, and I’m still sooooo fucking salty that he isn’t a romance option, but superinces and blahdefuckingblah. i will never not be salty. i’ve already six months of salt. whats another rest od my life? .

Baeson can POSSIBLY be your pseudo-half-brother. It’s honestly in name only, because even though you CAN share the same father, you share zero DNA and weren’t raised together. So not incesty to romance him. Only in name, not in science.

Ps pay no mind to edots, ive been rly sick the last few days, and im functioning at like 30% rn

I’m glad Saint is our brother. In that way, if the choice to kill him is given, it’ll be biblically poetic.

Alright no matter what I do I can’t play the demo anymore. Even if o download it still doesn’t work!!!

Patience is a virtue.

I’ve been sort of been living under the madcap, ravingly speculative assumption that what if the transferential need for energy was so great that we’ve already (unknowingly/unwillingly) attempted the murder of Saint while we were both in utero, hence the deep-seeded trust issues and silver hair

Then that’s beyond Rohie’s capabilities. I can still play the downloaded demo so it must be the browser/computer-related.

(Opening a save slot on the downloaded demo; Computer: Mac, Browser: Chrome)

The thread seems largely dead on account of the fact tht most material has been pretty sufficiently combed through but I’m new to the forums and the thread is titanic. I was wondering tht since the immortality the Bearer + Bestower might win in the trials has been said to slow the aging process, does tht entail tht their physical appearances will remain the same throughout the rest of their lives? Conversely, will they be able to use the essence to alter their appearances? I should think that it’s likely that’s possible. I wonder if the Bearer will be able to take forms that aren’t human (something that’d have to have a soul, I guess).

Ask @idonotlikeusernames about that matter, he’ll love to educate you on that particular subject. :smirk:

Wait…I’m probably gonna sound like an idiot but he is our fucking twin!? I thought he was a bit older or younger, not the same age. Now I hate him even more.

It is possible to have twins with different fathers, but I’m pretty sure he’s about a year younger than us.

Why Prissy Priscilla was used as a seed-carrier, I’ve no clue.

Oh, good. I mean, to me he is dead anyway but if he had been…It would’ve been worse to him.

That’s simple: Gods are assholes.

Poetic as usual.

But whether you enjoy the prospect of having Saint as a brother, despise the very thought or are just indifferent to the concept as a whole, the entire thing seems to be convoluted in a way that only the Greek Gods can achieve.

There can’t be a normal sibling relationship; no, there has to be weird miracles of science with secrets and adultery on the side. As per usual, it seems.

As I’ve said at least twice before, this was the commonest kind of twin in Greek myth, especially if one of the fathers was a god. Castor and Pollux, for example, were only half-twins, and only Pollux (I think) was a demigod. (So the question becomes: is Saint actually a demigod?)

I’m so curious. Why? I think I focus too much on Calypso (and this thread’s so long and I came in late-ish.)
