Children of the Gods (Important poll #12306)

Oh I can understand Hades but what do you have against Hephaestus!!! Come on he was screwed over from birth but he isn’t a bad god and he’s NOT a MONSTER!!!

This is what I’m going for with my MC. Generally friendly to people but completely apathetic to the prophecy and whatever hooblah that is going on. My MC is just in it for the adventure and will leave if they feel like it.

The old stories described him literally as a monstrosity the ugliest creature in the planet. His deformities highlighted in a macabre way… Greek legends are not political correct lol not my fault

Do you want to know why he looks that way.

Because Hera made him alone, without a man.

And don’t forget she threw him of Mount Olympus as soon as she saw him.

She did that because he was ugly, he became crippled because of that.

And with the desire of punish beauty goddess with the ugliness incarnated as husband a twisted gift.

Well that was to prevent a civil war over Aphrodite.

And we can’t forget Aphrodite has a lover named Ares the god war.

Well she could make him desirable. But no she make him horrendous on purpose

No I don’t think she can.

All gods committed. Incest so it’s. Not a valid reason to punish her marriage is jyst politics. Of course. She can she choose not because the difficult part iscreate live not make a pleasant body

From all the myths I’ve read about gods birthing other gods. They weren’t able to control what their children looked like.

Hera make a ugly creature and give it life
Present. The creation was presented as a way to solve the everyone. Wants marry the hot goddess. So she was forced marry him

Alright I think we got a bit carried away. I’ll just say this about all the gods and goddesses is that they are all screwed up. They are however fun to read about.

I’m not trying to be rude but posting 3 times was unnecessary. Could’ve just edited the first one, otherwise it feels a bit like spam.

Sorry forgot I could do that. Is there a way to delete post? Never mind.

You know even though it’s called the The rape of Persephone it’s not actually a modern rape. It just meant he kidnapped her. Plus she was given to him by Zeus which was common in culture at a time. (father giving a daughter’s hand in marriage) The only time I haven’t seen them love each other is modern stories with artistic license. Plus it isn’t even against her will all the time it’s specifically against Demeter’s will. Like depending on where you read it she eats the seed’s willingly.

Also our dear blacksmith could’ve just been crippled, as that was considered ugly. He’s depicted relatively normal in Greek art. Plus it’s not like their marriage meant anything. They blatantly cheat on each other and don’t love each other at all. She was only married to him so she wouldn’t be fought over who to marry anyway.

As far as I can understand, “rape” in ancient times was far more about whether they were supposed to have had sex or not, and the woman’s consent (or lack thereof) was completely unimportant. There are certainly a few definite rapes (it’s pretty obvious that Cassandra never gave her consent to Ajax minor), but Persephone and Hades could quite easily have had a perfectly consensual relationship, albeit one that they were not supposed to have had.
