Yes, I agree with this, of course I also think we may very well not get the time to self-actualize to any degree where the essence would be useful for anything other than blowing things up.
All that power, provided we make it to that birthday, and not a frigging clue of how to even begin to use it to our advantage, so all it does is rapidly consume us and wear us out.
Or you could just spell it with a K and he has both roles. Don’t get pedantic with me .
Gaia, Gaea, there’s a whole bunch of different spellings.
Pallas-Athena or Athena.
The Greeks had different spellings for nearly every god.
I also want a pony!
You mean a rainbow-coloured unicorn, right?
lol I didn’t want to seem greedy
Yeah, the thing is…Cronus is Zeus’s father, the one that castrated Uranus, and most probably the one that is the “antagonist” of this story (because according to some source the term “titan” is bestowed by Uranus upon his children after Cronus castrated him).
While Chronos on the other hand… Created Chaos and Aether, which make zero sense if you follow the “Chaos is the beginning of everything” cosmogony that this (and most) story is based upon, considering that the Essence is what created everything, and thus, it would be safe to assume that the essence essentially is Chaos.
I’m sorry if this came out as pedantic, but it’s not just different spelling, they’re literally different entities, unlike Gaia and Gaea.
Whether Chronos the (occasionally) primordial of time and Cronos the titan of the harvest/seasons were different beings or the same person is something the ancient Greeks couldn’t agree on, one of the many times myths contradicted each other.
Exactly because of how Greece was at the time, a whole bunch of city-states fighting for existence, they would change myths all the time to suit them and their propaganda. All of their legendary kings were descended from the gods for a reason, and they wouldn’t want their patron god to look bad. But even then, the Greeks were so combative that it’s incredibly difficult to figure out who went where.

Also, can I just say this thread is the definition of a circle-jerk? We have this exact conversation roughly every 8 days, like friggin’ clockwork.
This becomes very apparent when you’re catching up on posts. It gets kinda boring reading through 200 posts of the discussion barely budging an inch as the same arguments are being leveled in slightly reformulated form, with only the occasional interruption of a fresh thought or someone asking how to get X as a father.

First: I regret looking up the meaning of circle jerk (never should’ve let my curiosity get the best of me).
As for the matter of there being repeated topics brought up, it can’t be helped. This forum’s length is huge, so if new people enter (or if one of us simply forgets) brings something up that has been brought up before, we can’t expect them to always go WAY back 1000+ posts just to see what has already been said (unless we simply leave a link to the number of the original post if we remember it). And until the update comes along, we’ve pretty much observed most of Children’s of the Gods’ current state from every angle possible, so it’s sort’ve hard to bring in something new (and even then, someone would need to respond to it; a person can’t really have a topic discussion on their own).

The main reason the update is being delayed further is because the plot is being changed, ergo, I am rewriting. A lot. Characters have been “redefined”, certain goals and long term plot branches have been changed, the introduction has been completely dumped and replaced, as have several scenes.
These changes are basically an accumulation of all the things I wanted to include in this story but didn’t have the time to, and now that I have that time, I am grasping the opportunity. I stated before that this was a passion project above all else, and so when I lost the passion to continue this project, I knew I needed to make major changes. But don’t worry, the fundamentals are still present. I truly believe that after this reconstruction the story will better reflect the one I have in mind, and I cannot wait to share it with you all.
I would like a third option when our MCs meet Athena on Olympus for the first time and Athena asks if the MC would bow before a goddess. I would like the option to simply hug Athena the same way my MC hugged “Uncle Henry” on seeing him again. My MCs would verbally decline to bow on the grounds that it would hardly be appropriate for the creator of everything to bow before that creator’s own great-great-granddaughter.
This game’s awesome! I love the MC’s connection with Aeson and the whole Sparta-flashback. There’s so much to like when it comes to this cast (and the game in general, obviously.) Hope there’re opportunities to slam back hostility at Sage, because I’m not too interested in being her friend with my current MC and I got a kick outta the option to jump at her when she first comes screaming in the cafeteria.
I don’t like playing killers, but I’ll try to get through it so my MC can have Hades/Zeus as a dad…though I kinda liked having Poseidon, the one member of the Trinity who’s like “eep!” about the MC be the dad.
This is a good one. I’d also personally like to see more options for our mc too act prideful, like we created all this and the gods even fear us, that kinda personality. And more personalitys based around the gods, like flirty (aphrodite) bloodthirsty (hades) or cunning (Athena), since we made them ourself.

Hmmm…maybe there could be an alternate way to choose the father instead? Maybe at the beginning, the Bearer has a type of dream and depending on the choice made in the dream, it links to who their father might be. It could be a simple dream, like the Bearer standing before three lands that are possessed by an element in some way (water for Poseidon, Lightning for Zeus, and Shadows/Life for Hades) and depending on the one that the Bearer is drawn to, it reflects who their father is. Or maybe something more subtle, something that reflects the father’s views or personality; and depending on what the Bearer is the most responsive to, it ends up linking them to their father.
Bloodthirsty is Ares, Hades is one of the nicer gods of the Greeks, @Okami-Nora I would use lesser known themes like money, destruction and something related to Zeus besides sky and lightning maybe royalty… so it’s less obvious…

That’s why I brought up the idea for a more subtle choice that links to the father; I know not everyone would always be keen of obvious choices in certain scenarios.
Still, a simple dream option is not too bad in it’s own right. Imagine being the Bearer looking out at these strange ethereal lands. They approach one of them for reasons they can’t even explain to themselves. Once near the element of that land starts reacting to them: The Water circles around the Bearer lapping gently to and away from them, as though it can’t decide if it wants to get closer or keep its distance. The Shadows glide almost lifelike on the Bearer’s body, as though it is being protective of of someone it’s familiar with. The Lightning blares more fiercely, shining strong flashes of lights on the Bearer form, as though to draw the very worlds attention to the Bearer alone. the Bearer hears fragmented words that in a way link to something about their Father’s views (their innermost fear, hope or even view of the Bearer’s role in the prophecy), but can’t fully understand them and then-
The Bearer awakens. They can’t remember the dream. But they DO remember that they can’t afford the luxury of standing still. They get up and go about their day, not knowing what the Fates have in store for them.
I don’t like that Real life don’t work like THAT: “Oh, I dreamed with French Fries MY DAD SHOULD BE RONALD MCDONALD!!” My point os should be totally randomly generated Where you have no idea whatsoever what daddy what you get . Like in real live . Maybe let iap to choose dad to smash easy cash from cheaters. But imagine always not knowing who dad would end.

You’ve had that dream too!?
Joking aside, it’s only a suggestion that came to mind; it’s not that uncommon for some Heroes to have dreams that link to their Fate in some way. Mind, they are often ambiguous by nature, leaving what the true destiny that character will end up achieving up in the air of whether it’s good or bad (until the time the situation actually comes to them in real life).

Real life don’t work like THAT
Well…Godly conception anyway has not much to do with reality either, so prophetic dreams are not that far off?
I think is cheap and weaken the storyline choose whom is our daddy. I really think that not knowing deepening the drama. But just my opinion.
