im the baddest bitch in all of Olympus.
I’m pretty sure Olympus already went through that dilemma with the apple that ultimately led to a war.
Although you are in the Hero Trials; no better way to showcase your superiority there. Although you’d have to fight Calypso for the spot, I’m sure.
Nothing will override my Aeson headcanon @Sammysam, nothing!!
Besides I want my mc to be able to flip Aeson off with some lame blond(e) jokes, should Aeson ever really annoy him, the ones about brunettes are way less funny.
Sure, if we fight with ranged weapons like bows and guns, that’s true, taller people don’t really have an advantage then and we present smaller target profiles. Ultimately I would disagree with you about melee and unarmed combat, while some small people are amazingly skilled there too, they’d have been even more fearsome if they were taller.
Pretty much create the faces in my mind, so no one specific. I just know that hemsworth wouldn’t have crossed my mind for a fancasting…and how is the “capacity to look badass” defined? It would seem rather subjective… (that by the way is a honest question I’m really not sure if there does exist some “general” opinion on what makes someone look badass…or anything…or if I over think things…
)
Speaking from previous experiences of both martial arts and straight up fights, small people can be deadly as long as they play to their strengths. As in anything, tall people have advantages that small people do not, but the same is always true for the opposite.
A high amount of strength and speed makes a small person almost impossible to hit if they do it properly. Smaller target to hit and it’s much easier for them to hit the target if they use speed to get in close. Tall people have more power per attack, but they’re also almost always slower.
Some of the most powerful fighters were below average height. Both in real life and in fiction. Height certainly equals more intimidation factor, but fearsomeness depends on what you can do.
It certainly is; it could be different for every person. It certainly isn’t the same for some people. Various factors change the perception, but the presence is a large factor in a sense. Some people are underestimated which leads to the attacker royally screwing up, but Aeson seems like the type for everybody to know what he can do. People are both in awe of him and terrified of him at the same time because while he’s a nice guy, everyone is 100% sure he could kick their ass.
…and further still. No sharp angles for Aeson/Adonis? C’mon AA, being the best of friends can only be strengthened by the virtue of sharing.[/Essence logic.]
Here’s what I think Adonis looks like! This is Edward Zo, he’s Chinese. I love him etc etc. Though I guess we don’t know Adonis’s ethnicity yet, maybe @Rohie can confirm. If he’s not Chinese, I’ll likely find someone else.
This was my Adonis because…

Who do I believe? Hmm…
I, too, am in the generic, no-second-glances-no-thank-you, camp. I yawn while my countrymen pant. For me, Hemsworths are just…there.[/presumptive snobbery]
Tis’ quite the personal frustration not to be able to pin Aeson down by now. {subtle cough}
Perhaps the kaleidoscopic-colored eyes are somewhat responsible for causing the rift in my fancasting chi…
((Multi-quoting on a mobile is a slow, painful death.))
Height certainly equals more intimidation factor, but fearsomeness depends on what you can do.
Well in real-life, if you actually have to fight for survival intimidation factor is more valuable than always having to fight to actually prove yourself since it allows you to conserve energy and avoid (debilitating) injuries all by doing exactly nothing.
Some of the most powerful fighters were below average height.
I’d say skilled, not powerful, as you just said yourself taller people with a similar amount of training and dedication will always be more powerful.
but the same is always true for the opposite.
Don’t want to reprise our entire discussion of this on the Myrmidon thread, but as a short guy I know that to be false. Being small brings me a few advantages but way more disadvantages, so in no way is being small a favourable trade-off when looking at the bigger picture.

True, that goes for those fabulously skilled small(er) people. Unfortunately for me the “mage” mc, has such pathetic skills and training, combined in my case with the physical damage from those years being hounded that underestimating him will be a bit difficult for any opponents, unless he finds ways to “cheat”.

Which, if you were actually going to fight as you suggested, does exactly dick since intimidation only gets you so far. Somebody confident in their abilities halts intimidation in its tracks no matter how intimidating you are. I know that to be true from experience.

You’re assuming that a smaller person automatically equals a weaker person. Physically, taller people are likely to be more powerful in terms of strength, but not always.
I take powerful to mean what you can do in a package; if you’re more capable, you’re more powerful. Although that’s my interpretation.
no way is being small a favourable trade-off when looking at the bigger picture.
I never said it was a favourable trade-off; just that it was one to begin with. But a clever person plays to their strengths so that they level the playing field or even tips it in their favour.

Yeah, this is where I falter; you seem to be hellbent on making your MC the most pathetic weakling to ever exist. Which is perfectly fine, but good qualities seem to be almost non-existent.

Again true, but in these deathtraps not having to fight whenever we can seems a sensible strategy and one that intimidation factor can certainly aid (or hinder, if it’s non-existent).
Yeah, this is where I falter; you seem to be hellbent on making your MC the most pathetic weakling to ever exist. Which is perfectly fine, but good qualities seem to be almost non-existent.
It’s based on my experience with the game thus far, everyone of his new “peers” beats my mc in two seconds flat whenever it comes to a physical altercation. The only one my mc barely beats is one girl in a controlled classroom settings, a girl who is not one of the elite competitors in those trials. We’ve lost our “tools of the trade”, since Saint didn’t think to transport our belongings and the mage seemed to rely mostly on magical items during their previous life on the run. The only bit of “magic” we can do on our own is blow up that lock, but warriors and seducers can do that just as well.
From other player’s testimonials “mages” seem to do a bit better if their second stat is strength but mine is allure and on Olympus that’s pretty much worthless, since he doesn’t actually like anybody on Olympus enough, particularly among his new “peers” to make the effort (well except for Ares, but sadly he seems to be immune to moderate allure scores).
But yeah, overall those years on the run were an experience he came out of weaker, perhaps even greatly weakened, not stronger.
Okay, in regards to Aeson’s height, I distinctly remember a post where someone asked Rohie the height of the Scooby Gang, Sage, Psyche, and Santiago and I still remember what her response was, but just in case I went and looked it up and this is what she said:
Saint and Aeson: 6’2 Adonis: I have no idea. But I imagine he’s taller than Calypso, but shorter than Saint. Calypso: 5’8. Sage: The angry goblin at an outstanding 5’4. Psyche: 5’6. Santiago: 5’11.
So, yeah. Aeson is 6’2.
People please use centimetres. Because your imperial systems remember me the gay porn sites that always write the manhood sizes of all parts in the matter and are very similar to the imperial sizes… So I always felt dirty when I read the imperial height of a man. And about why I know about gay porn sites. When your best friend is gay since forever you ended knowing that type of stuff.
@idonotlikeusernames would your Bearer find condescending intent even if mine merely wanted to share the load and send him a long overdue dedication?
A reminder that there is nothing wrong with a little self-love. Or maybe my Lavei is just cocky as all Hel…
Saint and Aeson:1,87m (huh, not as tall as I thought…)
Calypso: 1,72m
Sage: 1,62m
Psyche: 1,67m
Santiago: 1,80m
So… if I had my actual body in-game…
I’d be… barely taller than Sage…
And there’s the beauty of the Customiser!
Nothing will override my Aeson headcanon @Sammysam, nothing!!

Doesn’t Aeson have brown hair :-0? I dislike Hemsworth too, because I think he’s very plain looking at best, but it’s interesting to see what you visualize! Edward Zo as Adonis is the hill I’d be willing to die on, TBH. + I love his lips, and Adonis’s lips are supposed to be full

Here’s my Aeson (Xavier Serrano, he’s from Spain ):

Just a reminder Latino is not a race. It is very impolite for us . Because it is like said african descendants or Caucasian descendants or even indigenous are not Latino what its stupid. Latino is a CULTURE shared by all countries that were under Portugal and Spain empires and conserve the same culture. A Brazil guy is latino a Portuguese is latino Myself from Spaim and white as hell I am latino. If you want go further you could say I am Hispanic .not Hispano American that term is only for the latino from old Spanish colonies.
I apologize. I wasn’t aware. I used Latino because he said he was Latino in an interview, I’d have specified his ethnicity otherwise.
When we said I am Latino we aren’t talking about a race. It is like said I am from the Commonwealth. But for us is important is part of a shared culture and that a matter of proud. There is even a day called Latino pride or shared cultures lol.
Edit More on topic my Aeson is a very peculiar one compared
Any of yours my links don’t work. Just searching Ryan Phillipe in Cruel intentions. Yeah i am clumsy with tech lol.
Adonis I had a Japanese sexy ice skating but I just don’t remember his name.
Saint and Aeson:1,87m (huh, not as tall as I thought…)
Calypso: 1,72m
Sage: 1,62m
Psyche: 1,67m
Santiago: 1,80m
Aeson/Saint: 188cm
Calypso: 173cm
Sage: 163cm
Psyche: 168cm
Santiago: 180cm
That’s just me being nitpicky there, but I fixed it for you.
And @the-placewhere I always take those to mean approximations than anything concrete; if Aeson is really 188cm tall, then Rohie needs to have changed the code in the update, since he’s described as ‘a few inches taller than you’ no matter what height option you pick, even the shortest one possible.
Strange how he can be 168cm and 188cm at the same time, hmm?
That’s just me being nitpicky there, but I fixed it for you
Eh, I anyway just typed it in google so there was never a guarantee that it would be 100% correct.
