Of course, to a gay MC, DNA isn’t as important as it would be to any couple capable of having babies. Consequently, “Aeson is technically not my brother, but we do have the same father” is just as incestuous as “Saint is actually my brother”, especially since we were raised apart (so we wouldn’t really think of either as brothers). Fortunately, my MC got Poseidon, although he’s not really into Aeson, anyway.
Well, I already explained my reluctance to date Aeson and Adonis, and we hadn’t met Santiago at that point (heck, we’ve barely even met him now), and I really don’t think Saint is as bad as you keep making him out to be…
I wonder if Aeson (if he becomes interested in the Bearer enough), might take a few actions or say certain things to empathize to the Bearer that they have absolutely no blood relation in any way, either as the embodiment of Essence or as Half-siblings of Hades. Or if Aeson gets a little uncomfortable at first if the Bearer attempts to bond with him like a sibling while he himself is interested in them in a more romantic way. It’d be interesting to have a RO take charge an show interest in the Bearer (even if the Bearer doesn’t indicate interest themselves).
Can’t really see the guy taking initiative in the courtship myself; even with the unspoken bond, I get the feeling he’d be even more uncertain about how to deal with his interest in the Bearer than Adonis is likely going to be (though he could end up surprising me and actually be the type to take charge and make his interest clear).
Hate is a strong word; it feels like most are feeling some type of annoyance that may partially stem from Saint’s habit of being the most inconsiderate toward the Bearer out of the group (tends to spout the most inconsiderate things and may be too touchy-feely for some any way).
Some do dislike him strongly, but it feels like most are experiencing annoyance more than anything. I myself do sometimes get annoyed about how thoughtless he can be toward the Bearer, but I don’t hate him.
And some people vehemently would set the line at “everything is fair play as long as they aren’t really related, even when they grew up and were treated like siblings” if you look at some of the discussions in other WIP threads.
I anyway merely echoed the reasoning the author gave us, I don’t want to start a discussion about what is ot what isn’t incest. That could end up like stirring up a hornet’s nest…no thanks.
Yeah; let’s steer clear of that particular thread derailment…
When? I escaped from his seekers, and then he offered to talk, so I did. No defeat anywhere.
I’ve gone over this one at least twice. Visiting Nephlim was necessary to remove the blocker, but Saint doesn’t trust him, certainly not as an influence to the Bearer. Could he have explained himself more? Sure, but I get the feeling that Zeus had specifically told him not to; that speech they gave looked very rehearsed, and I doubt he’d want anyone stealing his thunder (pun intended).
Again, I’ve gone over this. There is likely no precedent for removing a blocker on that much demigod potential, and I’m certain Saint didn’t know it would do that.
Fair enough. I don’t really mind this, but I know some people do, so he should have been more considerate there.
We’d been summoned from the hospital to the gods directly in said “trashy hospital clothes”, and met Saint afterwards. Maybe he thought we just liked wearing trashy hospital clothes? (And I think this is part of the clothing fixes @Rohie is doing anyway, so I don’t think it’s canon any more.)
Saint: “You can meet us in dorm 1402 after midnight.”
Calypso: “You can meet the guys and me in dorm room 1402 after midnight. Don’t get caught.”
Adonis: “You can meet Saint, Calypso and me in my dorm, room 1402, after midnight. Be discreet.”
All three give out the invitation (depending on who you choose to work out with); while they could probably have phrased them more cordially, I don’t see why Saint’s is any more of a “summons”.
The bold part is the difference between a humiliating defeat or not since you can never defeat him if you aren’t in a talking mood, like my mc was.
Which is necessary for plot reasons, but that doesn’t make it sting any less to my mc.
Then he should have, my mc doesn’t really care what Zeus may or may not have told him. Even an open admission that he is forbidden to tell us would be preferred above what he does now.
Which is true from a meta perspective as the player, to my mc it is Saint who forced him to swallow the body horror, coma potion.
He doesn’t think to ask now does he? Of course we can’t bring it up either, but the difference there lies in basically having to beg Saint for something better to wear or him finally being considerate for once and offering it and the second one is way better.
Saint seems to be the “leader”, or at least the deputy leader (depending on Aeson’s role in them) of the Scooby’s though, but you’re right all of them treat it like a summons and Haris’ reactions to us either going or not going reinforce that perception and my mc doesn’t really like Calypso or Adonis either, however we were talking specifically about Saint.
Difference of interpretation but even if I did want my mc to see him in a benign light (which I don’t) he’s, as you say, rude, inconsiderate and far too physical.
“Hey HeroName, me and the guys were just discussing this thing which relates very closely to you, and will probably be very important for you in the future. You want to come, discuss it with us, and maybe share your experiences?”
"Don’t you dare summon me! And why didn’t you offer me clothes yesterday!?
– The conversation between Saint and @idonotlikeusernames’s MC. (Admittedly better than his conversation with @poison_mara’s character, who stabbed him, and then went off chipmunk hunting.)
EDIT: for fairness, my MC is ridiculously naive, and trusts pretty much every character he’s ever met…
I get the feeling my mc would probably kill yours or try to anyway…
To be fair though, he wants to kill pretty much everyone so well make of that as you will.
Yes, in the current version at least, seeing as how we’re alternately being treated as the local charity case or a criminal.
Of course you now have advanced knowledge and we shall see if the forthcoming update improves our pc’s situation a little, won’t we?
I haven’t more knowledge about it than you. Really, and I am dying to know more … She has said that many things about that will change but no idea about many stuff and what will change.
Well, to be fair, we are the local charity case, and they have a reasonably strong case that we’re a criminal, too. Yes, we know that the seekers were brainwashed, but it’s not going to be easy to convince everyone of that. (And, admittedly, even if they weren’t brainwashed, we would still have a good case for self defense.) But when they’re hearing about the deaths of their friends, their brothers, at the hands of the infamous Bearer, I can understand why they treat us that way. The fact that the Scoobies are as friendly as they are suggests that they’re at least trying to give us the benefit of the doubt (or they’re just very good actors).
Yes, but we shouldn’t have to be, particularly not if they want us to fight for them like some sort of hero or chosen one.
If they just explained everything that’s actually relevant properly to us and at least tried to give us some of the same training and equipment our compatriots have in the very short time left to them in order to put us on as even a footing with our supposed fellow demigods as they could we wouldn’t need to be the local charity case.
Instead they waste our time by constantly humiliating us and having us sit through pointless high school classes.
All of this does not in any way make my mc more favourably inclined to them or their cause. It is made abundantly clear that they already have their hero in Aeson, we just need to do the thankless, dirty, boring bits, so they can let him have all the glamorous ones.
Okay, yeah, I agree entirely with that. They’re almost acting like they want us to fail (well, we already know at least half of them actually do). Presumably they have plots within plans that we just don’t know about yet. They’ll probably involve horrific torment for the MC, too (and unfashionable clothes ).
They’re either very cheap (long stay hospital pajama clothes sans shoes) or utterly bland and boring, while everybody else has nice unique stuff in their own style. In short compared to all our supposed new “peers” they make us look like crap.
Even at the ball as it currently is we’re given either a very bland black and white tuxedo with no accessories (which makes us look like the wait staff more then an honoured guest) or an equally bland set of armour. We are also the only ones there who do not get to have their own weapon.
A lot of this is supposedly changed in the forthcoming update, but as it stands now this is the mc’s sorry situation.
Which is probably Saint’s fault for not transporting our things with us.
It’s not like we get the opportunity or have any money, but it’s still humiliating to be the only one without our own weapon there.
Maybe because they want to get on our good side? I mean at this point the Gods can still easily kill us so it’s not like a sword or dagger would increase our threat level to them, really us not having our own weapon really serves no purpose but to make us stand out in an embarrassing way.
Again not like we get any opportunity to, but in this case the least our supposed “father” could do is give us some money for that, after all he owes about 17 years in child support.
