NOW you’re speaking my language; Thor’s Hammer is so going to be Thora’s weapon when she becomes a hero. As if the name didn’t already make it sort of obvious. People will tremble.
Whether he likes it or not, that would still end up killing the both of you. As long as your MC isn’t suicidal, that really isn’t the best course of action to take.
But otherwise what you are decribing is just the continuation of the rebirth circle tbh…
Eh but there is still hope that MC can find out something that will break the rebirth circle/the connection between Bestower and Bearer. Maybe nothing to take their power ultimately away but a way to seal it until MC’s death?
I still want to know why Bearer and Bestower seemingly aren’t reborn randomly and for what the Essence goes in hibernation between rebirths…
Or just release the Essence to save the world from [insert generic evil-sounding thing here]. (Not that that’s necessarily possible, but you never know.)
Still warrior and allure mc’s get to do that too and are just as good (or bad) at it. Still doesn’t give me confidence in the “mage” mc’s “magic” abilities there.
There’s plenty of fiction where “soulless” life is a possibility.
Only “Auntie” would come even remotely close to inspiring that kind of sacrifice in my mc.
True, though at this rate my mc may very well be actually suicidal by then and it would be an epic way to give the Gods and Cronus the middle finger, particularly if we can use our “instincts” to figure out a way to stay dead so that nobody gets the essence, not us, not Aeson, not Cronus and certainly not the Gods.
After the countless screwed up lives the mc has led maybe finally staying dead would indeed be a victory of sorts.
I think there a frigging lot the essence can’t change, or at least that we can’t change with the essence, mostly the things my mc would actually want to do with it.
IMHO, I feel some people are thinking to small regarding the lock destroying ability. This is my opinion on how it could be used and make mage and/or high Wit MCs not feel like they are sucking: why not use the ability to target someone’s weapon? You could target near the cross guard on a sword for example, and either make it more brittle or outright destroy that section depending on how high your magic stat is and now you have an advantage. It would really fit in with high Wit characters since they prefer waiting for the right moment to strike in contrast to how a high Strength MC would fight toe-to-toe. Again, this is just my opinion on how that could be used.
Yeah that would disarm them, so what? Calypso could still floor us in two seconds flat and the others are likely also trained in unarmed combat whereas we are very much…not. So we won’t gain enough of an advantage by doing what you’re suggesting as that would mean they’d only kill us a bit slower with their bare hands. We only do mostly okay against Saint and his pack of killers because we’ve got multiple magical items and even then we always, ultimately lose. Whereas in these trials we’ve got exactly squat (well there is the pill, but that one is only for allure mc’s).
At the very minimum we need something to defend us against the unarmed combat skills of the others and in my case that isn’t going to be the strength stat and we’ve no longer got that weak shield charm, that could at least buy us a second or two anymore either.
It would only work if we could target someone’s bones directly, but we’re likely not skilled or powerful enough to do that to one of our fellow demigods.
Very many “mage” players seem to have strength as their second-best stat while mine is always allure and that doesn’t seem to be a winning combination. Or more accurately surviving the deathtraps with that skill combo likely relies on working with the Scooby gang as their henchman, sidekick and servant, something my mc is not inclined to do.
It’s still far short of epic magic and don’t forget the warriors can blow up that lock just as well or badly as the supposed “mages” can, even Saint probably has better magic, seeing as how he can probably throw lightning bolts around. We’ve presumably got some demigod powers too, but they’re likely just as untrained and pathetic as the rest of my mc’s “powers” and besides we don’t even know what they are as “daddy” Hades sure doesn’t tell us, let alone give us a crash course in actually using them.
Let’s bring some fresh air into this thread! Let’s talk about something other than pretty clothes and private rooms.
How do you guys see your MC’s reacting to Priscilla, if we ever get to meet her? I know my MC has serious mommy issues, so I can’t wait for this to happen (if it does)
Probably poorly. I’m playing a character who distrusts the gods and is angry at everyone for lying to her. She will probably warm up to Athena again eventually, but her reaction to “Uncle Henry” and discovering the identity of her father has basically been “K. Well, thanks for nothing, jackass.”
I got the sense that her mom was dead, but if not, it’s just one more person who’s been lying to her all her life.
Rather indifferent as far as he’s concerned my mc doesn’t have a mother, but in her defense at least she hasn’t continually lied to us. Though if it turns out she was behind those packs of little psychotic killers that would make my mc really hate her too, but that’s probably the only thing that could.
Seeing your mom for the first time ever.
“How does it feel to die?”
What a reunion. XD
Unlike most people here, I have a less… aggressive and resentful MC. He would probably run up and hug her, if possible… And probably won’t flare up immediately. Unless she says something very wrong.
On a side note, what is Persephone? A Goddess? Or some kind of immortal human? If she’s the former, what does that make Aeson??
Persephone is the daugher of Zeus and Demeter, and she’s his step-mother due to the fact she’s the immortal wife of Hades. Besides, while Hades might feel slightly bad about cheating on Persephone, she did the same with the OG Aeson.
Daughter of Zeus and Demeter making her the niece of Hades. Depending on what version of the myth Hades kidnaps her {Zeus offered her like a dowry} or they elope, because her mother was clingy. Demeter got mad and caused an eternal winter so Zeus sent her to go get Persephone, but she had by this point eaten two pomegranate seeds depending on the version she was either tricked or she ate them willingly. She stays with him for half the year and visits her mother for the other half which is why we have winter and fall. It’s also the most functional relationship among the gods with no cheating. It helps that Hades nowadays is considered one of the nicest Greek gods.
