And you assumed they told the truth? I’m not so sure I believe that crap, maybe they’re doing this plan now because it’s worked for them before. I certainly wouldn’t put deception like that past the Gods.
I thought it was @Rohie who mentioned it, so I assumed it to be true. Give me some time to find it.
Edit:
Found it!
So yes, the Bearer/Bestower never before were demigods.
I also think one possibility could be Cronus granting immortality to a bearer who willingly serves him. If the gods can do it, he probably can too, and it would serve as a useful peace offering as long as he could take it away should the bearer ever betray him.
I previously theorized that Cronus will somehow get hold of Aeson, and use him to threaten us into doing his bidding if we don’t join him by our own volition, but this is pure speculation on my part. The prophecy is quite vague and open to interpretation, as prophecies often are.
That is a likely possibility, especially if MC is about to be executed and Cronus could swoop in to rescue them. Whoever is controlling the seekers (which may or may not be Cronus) could also decide to make a move. Alternatively it might be related to someone running away, which Rohie teased in a previous post. Honestly, if there really are 12 trials and we will be going on missions between them as well, the end of the trials is a long way off and a lot of things could happen before then.
@poison_mara aw, I don’t say be optimistic, my own first impulse is to expect the worst case, but if I wouldn’t have trained to work against this I most likely wouldn’t even be able to ever leave my apartment. So let me try to find a middle ground.
Nothing wrong with being pessimistic. If you always expect the worst, you will never be disappointed and you may on occasion be positively surprised.
I’ve always been pessimistic about other peoples abilities and optimistic about my own. I guess my bearer is kinda the same.
Does that make me an arrogant jerk? Yeah probably.
So yes, the Bearer/Bestower never before were demigods.
Okay, technically doesn’t rule out demititans, but you know that.
Still with my mc positively loathing the demigod part of himself that doesn’t really raise my confidence in my mc’s abilities any, as he really doesn’t want to have anything to do with anything that comes from “daddy” Hades.
In particular the demigod brain seems no more capable then the human one, so if that is the bearer’s greatest limitation he likely won’t fare all that much better as a demigod in terms of accomplishing anything really significant with his essence powers.
Grr, that stupid demigod “core overload” and the even more stupid Saint dragging us as a sack of potatoes to Olympus and denying us even a proper entrance.
Okay, technically doesn’t rule out demititans, but you know that.
Well, the only titan left is Cronus, so if the Bearer ever used to be one it had to be very early during the reincarnation circle. But I also would guess that Cronus most likely tried to avoid spawning the Bearer by himself.
Well, I anyway don’t think that we really will see how MC gets the powers (at least the traditional way, we probably can expect some twist that will make all our theorizing null and void by giving us new information), before the big finale, but if you want to headcanon your MC’s life after the ending in that way, sure go ahead.
…I will just imagine the MC learning to use the power to enhance the capabilities of their brain. After all the power of the Essence is “both magical and physical.” Theoretically both could be true and as long as the story doesn’t negate one of the theories everything is a fair guess.
Hello!
Omnipotence: The Bearer is only omnipotent when they are in slumber, and even then, it’s no longer your MC; it’s the Essence in their true form, a body-less ball of pure whatever. The extent of your MC’s powers are scary enough to defeat a Titan and destroy nearly everything that exists in this Universe though…so I wouldn’t worry.
On that note; I’d be cautious in underestimating your MC’s, doing so will lead to a bad scenarios and unpleasant surprises. You’re no better than the Gods of Olympus in doing so. We’re just starting to get into the bulk of what the MC can do; especially considering that it’s just been revealed that the MC’s “magic” isn’t real magic, but a sort of leak in what powers they’ll hold.
But speculation is always fun.
Still, the MC won’t go into the war untrained; there are still odysseys to go on, creatures to meet and slay and so forth. The MC’s will be more than ready.
Changes: Besides the changes to the Summoning, additions to the childhood scenes, more choices prior to the Summoning, and more dialogue options when speaking to Nephlim in his domain, I’ve added scenes for both Santiago and Avery after the blood sacrifice. This means, if you did not cut your palm and make a blood sacrifice, you can still go to Avery’s station, where you have the option of speaking with either her or Santiago before the Trials. Speaking to Santi is beneficial if you’re playing as with the Team Player Strategy, (or any strategy besides Lone Lavei and the Hero Strategy) because Santiago is a very valuable asset for anyone to have on their “side”, but it’s (intentionally) difficult to gain his trust and get him on your side–inside and outside the Trials.
There will also be small changes to the status screens; whereas before everything was on the same page, it was too big of a cluster. There are now tabs that blend percentages and story-like analysis stats. There will also be a God’s Trust bar, thanks to @Amrel_Archer. In order to…do certain things, the bar has to be high enough. I’m sure openly God-hating MC’s will love this.
The Trials: I’ve decided that there will only be three/four in the game; Artemis’s, Ares’, Athena’s, and Hades’ (up for debate). There will be an event that makes the Trials essentially useless and kick the War branch into overdrive.
I’ll update on the status of the, uh, update, later. Beta testers should check their inbox for news at a later time.
God-hating MC’s will love this
I will break the game and end up having -100 trust. Up yours Olympus
That’s basically what I did in Champion of the Gods. To the Tartarus with them I say.
Speaking to Santi is beneficial if you’re playing as with the Team Player Strategy.
Duly noted. This will help when utilising Thora’s strategy.
I feel like I’m one of the only people who doesn’t actually hate the Gods. Don’t get me wrong, I certainly don’t trust them all, but I seem to be lacking the motivation to outright hate them. Hate can lead to you royally fucking up important stuff, so my MC is simply being cunning; playing the game but keeping her ears open at all times.
@poison_mara if anyone knows hatred of the Gods, it’s sure to be your MC. Care to give me your opinion on the hatred of the Gods? Or anyone else?
Attention Emo Mara would respond In character . @poison_mara don’t are responsible for her opinions
"Why I hate them? Looking at the graveyards still fresh with the remains of the last tantrum war of Ares … Poseidon migraine had caused a million of lives with last tsunami… Not I care But still .
My mom banged a godly figure so Here I am . She died my aunty was all for me… And THEY CARRIED AWAY KILLED BY HUNTERS. Alone I have been two years hunted by the God militia fear fear each second. And blood. They are cruel why they don’t attack me like with Aunt Alice and stop this nightmare. I don’t asked born I don’t asking for this torture.Alone and scared…
"Then Saint and the gang captured me and I suppose to be the creator. But they still treating me like a sewer rat. Putting a chipmunk girl as a perpetual room mate spy. Obliged me go to stupid classes don’t let me choose my own clothing… While Mr Glittering Is treated as a Messiah.ALL I ALWAYS DESIRED HAS BEEN GIVEN TO HIM… the anger. I am a MONSTER everyone is scared about me… I only wanted to be loved and somehow Be respected… But no They destroyed my life and then insulated me and menacing my life. I am just a tool… like everyone for them…But they shall pay their dues…
Hello!
I love how you pop in in the aftermath of our discussion and speculation session and answer all our standing questions, very much appreciated. ^.^
In order to…do certain things, the bar has to be high enough. I’m sure openly God-hating MC’s will love this.
I’m sure I will, though my MC most certainly won’t. Sounds like a wonderful setup for a negative feedback loop: MC hates the gods, gods don’t trust her, gods refuse to let her “do certain things”, she hates them more, they trust her less. I’d like my MC to be as near theocidal rage as possibly by the time the war breaks out.
Care to give me your opinion on the hatred of the Gods? Or anyone else?
Hate is passion. Through passion I gain strength. Through strength I gain power. Through power I gain victory. Through victory my chains are broken.
I prefer the version who started PEACE IS A LIE … Syth code is so badass
Well.
As usual, Emo Mara doesn’t disappoint.
But from a logical perspective, a lot of it is justified. It may not be right, but strategically they’re good moves by the Gods. I think right now, Thora’s more reliant on her guard rather than the hatred; she’s too focused on what’s going on to fully address the depths of emotions she’s feeling. Or maybe should be feeling.
And @KuraiHeka while the concept itself is sound, that ‘power’ is extremely short-term at best. Hate may win you several fights, but it also leaves you virtually unable to think strategically. I just think a middle ground is the best strategy rather than an extreme; being too naive and trusting about the Gods’ intentions is clearly idiotic, but then again hating them will almost certainly blind you to many things of interest. A clear head is always a must when dealing with an enemy larger than yourself.
Yeah, but can we actually (figure out how to) use them to make changes to the laws of physics or eventually learn how to design non-human containers for our soul and break the cycle? An eternity in our current demigod body wouldn’t be something my mc would particularly fancy, especially if we couldn’t change it in any significant way.
Destruction is practically the easiest thing there is to do with any kind of power, if we’re merely an impossibly destructive weapon, if the mc can only destroy and not create or change then the mc still isn’t all that impressive really.
Or anyone else?
I’ll take that last one.
As for the Gods looking at it from my mc’s pov there’s much more to hate about them than there is to love.
-
“Daddy” Hades, worst “dad” ever, he couldn’t even bring himself to pretend to be our father, settling for the “uncle” sham, when he should have at least come clean when my mc discovered his own “magic” and the whole muggle jig was up anyway. Then we find out he could (pretend) to play the loving father to our half-brother all this time without any difficulty and that they were living lavishly on Olympus while we were dodging packs of psychotic little killers.
The final insult there would be that even in his so-called demigod body my mc is clearly the ugly duckling and the unfavourite compared to Aeson. All in all there’s really absolutely nothing to like about the guy to who we are the red headed step child, bastard of the “family” at best.
Also he wasn’t “imprisoned” like “auntie” was, but he apparently had more important things to do than look for his lost “son”, like play family with Aeson. -
Zeus the head honcho, in my mc’s mind responsible for sending those packs of psychotic killers after us and ruining the life we had and then compounding it by sending Saint after us and making it worse. So not my favourite being at the moment.
-
Hera and Ares, both refreshingly forthright about wanting to kill us, so not exactly people who even pretend to care about us as a person. Ares is a hot piece of ass though!
-
Athena or “Auntie” let’s be clear that my mc doesn’t really trust her anymore but he still wants to like her and wants her to like him even if it goes against his better judgement, but hey he wants to be able to talk to at least one person on Olympus and “Auntie” is the best choice for this, particularly because he chooses to believe her imprisonment story, so at least she was suffering too and not living it up lavishly with the rest of them while my mc was fighting those little killers.
-
No feelings whatsoever about the rest of the Gods, but that also means no good feelings and given that among the gods I’ve just named there far more bad than good overall that equates to a rather bad opinion of the Gods.
She is EMO MARA NOT SPOCK MARA
logical is not her thing. And she is not responsible of being created and ransom by Athena.
a lot of it is justified
“Justified”? They pretty much planned your whole life from before you were even born. They played you as a fucking pawn. And why? Cause they fear you might end up destroying them, which is ironic, because they basically made you hate them to begin with so now what? They want you be their Champion? After all the shit those idiots put you through? Sorry, but there is hell to pay.
@Baam My thoughts exactly. You’d think they’d treat the teenager with the power to destroy them and the universe with more respect.
Respect!!! Thery lost to learn that lesson in Sesame street. And friendship…
