Children of the Gods (Important poll #12306)

From what I remember, Calypso is very fun loving and excitable so just plain asking her raises stats, being discreet raises stats as well but not as much and I can’t remember the other one( or two).

Okay, that may just have been perception then, and I didn’t approach Calypso here, or anyone at all during that ceremony, with the old clothing choices I always chose the lake.
I was talking more when she’s the “welcoming committee” my mc really didn’t like her arrogance there, the rest was likely inference on my part, but it did not dispose him favourably towards the scooby gang, in any case.

Wait, what? I don’t get it.

I played as a gay male MC and I never got a submissive vibe from him. Out of the two currently available options, Adonis does seem to take on active role in the flirting at the beginning, but that by no means defines whether your MC is submissive? If you choose to view it as submissive behavior to be the one being flirted with for a change, then that sounds more like a personal interpretation than anything. I haven’t even spotted any scenarios as of yet where there’s a difference in the scene based off the gender you picked for your MC.

I will replay trying to reply it by I swear before dancing Adonis I had 45 council and 50 citizens and after i up +3 same to Aeson. Maybe some weird bug.

My ideal look would include black clothes and a dark coat like Kirito´s from SAO, but to be honest I didn’t really care about it, jeans and hoodie work for me. But I AM all in for uniforms though.

Hell yes anarchism.

I’ve got to say, this is one of the best books in the CoG platform so far. This is kind of the experience I was hoping for when I began reading Champion of the Gods. I liked it, but the experience from your book is way more enthralling, vivid and lovable in every way.

I froze somewhat when I reached the “update coming” part. For such a long time I felt I was reading the entire thing. It makes me anxious for the game’s release, I’ll be sure to bask in it.

As to suggestions, on the story or gameplay, I would have to replay it a couple of times, take more notes than I already did, but the game seems to have pretty much most of what I’d desire fleshed out. Sometimes, as is the case in most CoG games, you can’t really tell what a choice really brings other than a fake choice’s response, but I felt that most, if not everything, I chose affected the game’s story in some meaningful way. That’s a good thing.

Oh, and the save system… That is so wonderful. Every game should have that. Absolutely lovely.

Now, to the part where I really help you. I’ll list here some typos I’ve noticed. No bug per se, mostly writing slips. It would seem that people verily helped you on reviewing things up to the Trials, and the rest would be the updates, yes? Well, here we go.

  • Right at the first day in physical training, after speaking with Saint, in the second paragraph when the tutor comes in, there is “Soon, there are five straight rows of Demigods, there hands behind their backs, their heads held high.” It is their hands.

  • When meeting Saint and Calypso at the room 1402, there is the first paragraph: “Saint, wearing a dark hood, walks toward you. From behind him, you can just barely make out Calypso’s form behind him, wearing a matching hood that conceals most of her blonde hair.” It repeats “behind him.”

  • Leon Antoniou, at the wedding in Mount Olympus, talking about the cerimonial armour gained to it, in the fourth paragraph, says “owened” instead of owned.

  • One or two pages later, seventh paragraph, “fued” instead of feud.

  • Same page, missing dot at the end of the penultimate paragraph.

  • When Eris shows up, Zeus says “you are not welcomed here.” I might be mistaken, but I believe it should be “welcome” rather than welcomed in this case.

  • A page later, during Eris speech, she says “…no it is earned” should be “nor it is”, or should have a coma after the no.

  • When Athenas is at your dorm to help you choose your clothes. “when the door closes, Athena turns to you.” When needs to be capitalized.

  • When gazing at the lake and Aphrodite comes up, in the penultimate paragraph it is said “The things you have to worry about, just she sheer amount of stress on your shoulders…” Instead of she we should have “the.”

  • If you tell the love godess about the Trojan War, she says “I was wondering it our paths ever crossed! Tell me, who were you?” It is wondering “if”.

  • When Persephone reveals herself as Aeson’s mother, there is "I’m a child of Hades.] " in the fifth paragraph, with the MC being Hade’s son of course. There should be either another bracket, or none.

  • In the supposed trials, when Santiago drops off near Sage, there is in the penultimate paragraph “Santiago turns to herm rolling his eyes.” Despite herm existing, I think you meant to say “her.”

And that’s about it for this playthrough.

By the gods, your book feels fantastic to read, and I’ll be hoping for its quick release and greatest success.

Best wishes!
I’ll make sure to hop by once again if I amass another round of notes.

Oh and one other thing, for characters like mine who really loathe their “daddy” is there any way we can ask “auntie” some of the questions Hades (or the others) offer to explain, but the mc isn’t willing to hear his undoubtedly biased versions of, later on?

And if we must blood-sacrifice can’t my mc try to offer his blood to “auntie” instead and get her to be my “sponsor”?
I mean if he’s got to participate in those trials and he has to be somebody’s “champion” he’d definitely choose “auntie” (provided her story is true, she did at least try to protect is and even suffered for him, while daddy Hades was content playing father to Aeson all the time and apparently in all this time never once though to check up on or even accompany the “Seekers” to find his “son”.) over his worthless sod of a “father” who really has no right to call himself that, to my mc he’s nothing more than the sperm-donor.
In summary and perhaps as an act of rebellion my mc would rather try to choose the Goddess he at least respects over the one who suddenly calls himself his “father” but whom he loathes.

I was really hoping for, at the time of the blood sacrifice, to be able to choose whether to do the sacrifice or not, and to whom, and what kind or how to do it. It was indeed unfortunate not to be able to.

It would make for some good (or embarrassing) perspectives; you mean smiliar to how Priscilla is viewed differently? It could be done, and you’d most likely need to look to Athena, Persephone, or Aeson for that insight.

Also, last night I edited the blood sacrifice scene, so it can get rather hilarious. They did only require an interal sacrifice. Blood was never specified.

That’s interesting. I’d interpreted the lack of invite as a lack of interest, but it sounds like it’s may be that Calypso considers us much closer friends than I do. Huh. o.o

I’d kinda assumed that, while not uniforms, there was already a dress code in place. I’d assumed that the traditional Greek outfits were the dress code, with combat suits and seeker cloaks (for those applicable) were acceptable alternatives. (T-shirt and jeans representing not giving a crap.)

I’d assumed as much. Like I’ve said previously, I think our interpretations of the gods are for the most part the consequence of our own attitudes.

Sounds fun, I like making evil choices, but I also like being punished for them. Make of that what you want… <.<

That’s very much understandable. How do you create a branching story where players feel like they can choose what to do and where to go, without ending up with infinitive exponentially multiplying branches? Not easily. Personally I understand the necessity of a degree of railroading to ensure the players all wind up in the same (approximate) situation for the big events to unfold. Sure you could spend more time expanding the width of the current content, but I think most of us would rather get on to the parts we have been looking forward to: the trials, the war, etc.

I belive you mentioned we are currently around 20% into the game? To take Mass Effect as an example: Sheppard had to touch the Protean beacon, Sheppard had to become a Specter, Sheppard had to take command of the Normandy. Those events set the premise for the game, and after that the game starts to open up and let you choose what you want to do. It is common practice for interactive stories to start out fairly railroady for the first part of the game, then open up more later.

I might have made some occasional complaints, but having played a lot of tabletop roleplaying games, I have seen from experience that suspending your disbelief and following along with the story the creator intended tend to be a lot more fun than trying to refuse and force them to come up with something new.

Considering how consistently disrespectful and ill-behaved my MC has been, I’d be disappointed if there weren’t some consequences eventually…

About that I think also that a little difference should be added about Daddy info about the reclamation ritual. If Mc is goddie and daddy is happy via stats It could him gives a weapon before the bondage blood path. While a rebellious get nothing. Like I mean if daddy’s say Heh this girl/guy/non binary It has been good why no making felt special tbat could maybe help us in the long run?

Now I hope we can also try to make that sacrifice to “auntie” instead of our “father” who in the eyes of my mc really has no right to call himself that. Or Ares I suppose my mc might be willing to give him the “internal sacrifice” of his saliva, though obviously not in the way they intended.
For “auntie” a kiss on the cheek might work instead.

For me it wouldn’t even be about perspectives, at first, just info as he was never even willing to hear his “dad” out.

Players always do the things you least expect them to, at least that’s what I remember from my D&D days. The best DM’s just tend to roll with the flow and such campaigns are the subject of things like [Darth & Droids] (http://www.darthsanddroids.net/). Such dynamics also tend to keep both parties on their toes and can help insure things don’t get boring. That being said, I recognize that allowing such free-roaming cannot be done in video games, not even CoG stories, what you will still get is players like me interpreting things either differently than the author meant them to be interpreted or interpreting them when they were not even intended to be open to interpretation at all and conversely neglecting to interpret things that the author did mean to be interpreted.

What mine hasn’t even tried to slap or pinch Ares’ ass yet. (which will be totally worth it if this incarnation is as hot as the Xena one).
Still if I don’t like the writing of something I tend not to even bother with it at all, so take that for what you will.

The problem with that approach of Punishment. It is the author could ending blocking entire choices punish then two hard making players never choosing them.
Imagine that don’t dance in the party punishment where cut our left hand noń

Indeed, some GMs are great at improvising and rearranging their notes on the fly. Others on the contrary are not and will visibly slow down and struggle if the players are too relentless in their divergence from the GM’s plans. The latter case has taught me the benefit of sometimes just to stop asking questions so the plot can advance. When this is reasonable and when it isn’t is of course a subjective judgment.

Well, I wasn’t necessarily referring to punishment, which would obviously have to be carefully considered by the author. I was thinking more in regards to reactions. I expect I’m only strengthening the anti-lavei side’s position. I wouldn’t be surprised if some gods reacted more harshly toward me or someone, Athena for example, eventually pulled me aside to give me a stern lecture about how the gods are really not optimistic about my prospects. Actually, in Athena’s case, it could also be a heartfelt talk about how I didn’t use to be like this and what’s happened to me and won’t I please try to be the hero that uncle Hades always saw me as? I’m really just expecting my long term behavior to be acknowledged down the line.

You really are too good to us angry ungrateful demigods. If the gods spoiled us like you do even I would be happy to fight their wars for them.

I also second a chance for another heart to heart with auntie Athena. My mc wants to trust and believe her, but he still has so many questions.

You mean the traitor?

My mc basically opted out the love and trust stuff.

I would have loved it of he could do that more.

Walk past calypso when she asks for forgiveness leave the room when Adonis makes that pun.
Just ignore people as much as possible.

didn’t have time to read it completely but it certainly looks good , can’t wait for the official release

Why does Adonis look irritated when I ask Aeson to dance? Is there something between them?

As for something between them, Adonis and Aeson are best friends.

I thought your MC probably have a high relationship stat with Adonis, which made him feel jealous when you ask his best friend to dance instead of him. But that spawn of Aphrodite is an enigma, so who knows exactly? ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Yup that seems to depend on MC showing interest in him or not. Adonis is jealous and probably hoped that MC would ask him to dance…he reacts the same way when you ask Callypso to dance.

Pf…I bet he didn’t even notice that he thinks about MC that way until they showed interest in someone else…

Or maybe he is just so used to everybody being charmed by him that it comes as a real shock when the one time he may be really involved the other person just…well, is not. So maybe Adonis is somewhat lazy and expects others to show their interest to him? Ha, MC dancing with someone else even when it’s just platonic has to be really a change for him.
