If you play a high wit character it’s mentioned that they graduated through online courses.
No He has to shielding and Glistening to anyone in Olympus. I like him too he is so spoiled rat and drama queen that is adorable. He will suffering when we get the power from him. He would lost that attention he so massively search
If
Not everyone will though.
I only answered your question with no additional valuation. I don’t know why you are directing this specificaly to me. I never claimed everybody would.
Which he could do just fine at Olympus U, provided it exists.
Well he doesn’t have to be a blacksmith to create anything, in the future now will he? Of course after he turns 18 anything he has to create for himself will be both utterly worthless and completely pointless.
Point is they don’t even pretend to take the mc seriously as a person, instead of a weapon.
Also It is not OBLIGATORY graduate at all. If I were to become Ultimate power in universe They could graduate my ass
The MC can make his own stuff until he’s all powerful?
And I think treating the MC differently from the other demigods might actually bring more unwanted attention to them. Having them go through the same classes and wear the same clothes (so far, only Calypso and Aeson have been pinpointed for wearing unique things) makes it so people are less likely to be aware and wary of the soon-to-be potentially-world-ending being. Maybe what Lavei really needs is normalcy?
Well that brings a rather interesting picture of your anatomy and a diploma to mind…
I’d like to clarify some of the problems that have been raised. This will also be my longest post. Ever.
Your MC’s treatment on Olympus:
1.) I urge you to read the prophecy in full. It is fated that the Essence will be by Cronus’s side in the war, and in my game, that will ring true no matter what. Whether “being by Cronus’s side” is in regards to aligning with him, or fighting against him, no one knows. But, it will happen.
So, given the amount of ludicrous gossip on Olympus, of course the Prophecy has gotten out (comme ca Harry Potter) and the part "I will have the Essence by my side doesn’t really give people a warm, fuzzy feeling about you. Especially when attached to rumors of lost Seekers and years of mystery surrounding you.
You have been on Olympus, by my count for *less than a week * (ignoring your comatose state). Do you truly expect to evaporate more than a decade of fear and uncertainty by then? I’m sorry, but that is not realistic! I went into this story urging readers to think realistically in terms of relationship development., and the citizens reaction to you is more than realistic.
In regards to your “friends” give it time. It’s been a week; they barely know you. I don’t think they “summon” you at all. You have the choice to interact with them or not (especially with Calypso). You determine whether or not the friendship progresses.
To ease your mind, think of it as this; you’ve had your life predetermined for you even before you were born, given choices that lead to little freedom. How much worse would that be if your own peers forced you to hang out with them? I’ve imagined that the scooby gang simply don’t want you to feel as if you have to hang out with them; hence the choice. Although, if you get the relationship bars high enough, they’ll no longer invite you to gatherings; it’ll be expected.
(Also, the choice is there to be considerate to MC’s who hate the scooby gang, and rather be alone)
(Also, not having a key was an oversight, and I take full responsibility for forgetting to add it in. Haris was intended to leave it next by your bed next to the note in CH4.)
The clothes:
Oh God, the clothes. This problem will be all but diminished since there will now be uniforms. I had attempted to stray from the cliche “we all wear uniforms and go to a private magical school” archetype, but I suppose it’s time to succumb. At least these are high quality, and by no means “generic”.
I never even second guessed the outfit selection. I simply typed out clothes, and it had little to now meaning besides emphasizing that you were on the run for years and suddenly dragged to Olympus without any of your, albeit few, belongings. Even before you were taken to Olympus, you were wearing jeans…and a hoodie. The MC wasn’t exactly rolling in cash, and that’s canon considering how stressed you were over Drachmas at the Magikeep.
Your thoughts and analyzation of the clothing was your MC’s own imagination working. I’ve made changes to the story that should the vast majority, and even some of the minority and dispel those claims of “generic brand clothing”.
Most of your suggestions have been implemented in the next update, except the daily clothes; those, as I said, have turned into uniforms.
But in the ceremony, you have a wide array of luxuriously fancy clothing choices now. So, I rather not further discuss the earlier clothing choices, since they no longer exist.
The Gods:
Actually, I don’t think there are any underlying misconceptions about the Gods. Everyone should feel different about them, and that’s intentional.
Aeson’s God-like status:
I can’t talk about this in detail without spilling major plot spoilers; but just refer to point #1, and consider how long you’ve been on Olympus, and what the prophecy says about the Bearer.
Maybe your MC is blinded by jealousy (intentional) and cannot see (not intentional) that the wild-goose chase to retrieve an artifact that had no value what-so-ever that led to Aeson’s injuries is just one of the many ways the Gods have made him suffer over the years, just like you
All the characters have had hard lives due to the Gods in one way or another; Calypso was taken from her homeland and her family, Saint was abandoned and given to Zeus. ZEUS. Aeson’s mother died (ha) and he had to flee to the Institute, and was suddenly thrust into a life of dangerous quests to please the Gods blood-lust.
So, raise your hand if you’ve ever felt publicly victimized by the Gods. Anyone? Oh, everyone.
I agree with @Nyxerie that you have to think outside of your MC; Aeson’s been here longer, there is nothing in the prophecy about the Bestower being by Cronus’s side, and he’s simply earned it.
I can’t tell you how he earned it until later, but I suppose abiding by the Hero strategy in the next update will shed some light. Aeson at times has always been a very dark (?) character in my game, so you’ll see where that stems from.
But, your reactions are welcomed and I’m glad you have them; it means it depicted Aeson correctly, so thank you.
Master (Mistress) of the Universe
You’re not. At least not yet, and as of now, the Gods can kill you with their eyes closed will sipping on a pina colada. Of course, the chain reaction it would cause, will be monumental, so they’d do it warily, at least.
To put it lightly, you’re a seventeen year old, one of the many Demigods born to Zeus and Poseidon, (or the second born to Hades), and have powers no one can describe or predict.
The Seekers
I suppose by now I thought (narrative-wise) I had made it clear that the Seekers were being controlled by “him”, i.e. someone other than the Gods. This explained Saxon and Alec’s black eyes, and the strange disappearances within the Seeker community.
This is the arc: Someone has attempted to frame you for the disappearance of the Seekers, along with Saxon’s death (whether you killed him or not).
Later, a trial-like scene will be incorporated in regards to this (and whatever other crimes you may or may not commit). It can either be hilarious or sad. Probably both.
Railroading
I wonder if I mentioned this earlier, most likely within the first of hundred posts…but the beginning of this game is highly railroaded; Saint’s kidnapping, being brought to Olympus, the Summing, the Trials, attending the Institute.
But that’s about there is ends as of now, since the Trials have officially begun.
There are several arcs with differential branches in this story, and I know I mentioned earlier that the majority of this story leads to branches upon branches. It was not my intention to make this story feel railroaded, but I suppose that’s what happened.
I can’t do anything about the beginning, in regards to how you arrive to Olympus, or the Summoning. Sure, I could insert some feeble "Screw you"s and "I won’t do it"s but those would lead to dead ends. (Unless that’s preferable; perhaps just to experience death as the Essence?). Those choices would be cosmetic and a way to feed into your MC’s possible “rebel without a cause” persona.
I don’t understand the submissive take on male MC’s (considering) the MC’s are all the same as all MC’s, just different in gender). The problem would be the stereotypes you have for males; loud, assumptive, strong.
I inserted the personality choices to give your MC a canon persona, but I suppose they’re rather useless. I’ve made some changes during the Summoning, the school requirements, the Ceremony blood sacrifice, and some risque reactions to the Gods, but that’s it. I can’t give you the option to blatantly refuse without giving you the death route as well, and it’s far too early in the game to do so.
But, I’m still coming through, looking for opportunities for your MC’s to rebel.
I love this concept. It could simply be a text status with High trust, Low trust, Medium trust, etc. It would dispel some curiosities and lead to many chances at the MC asking to do something, and the Gods declining. I am seriously considering this, and thank you for your idea!
The only thing I can say if that I love reading your reactions and suggestions; half the time they are things that never occurred to me, but the other half they’re things that I’ve hesitated adding because I felt they wouldn’t fit with the story. Everyone has such a unique take on this story, and even the fact that you take so much time to play it and provide feedback blows me away.
And finally, if this game gives you more grief than joy, I’m truly sorry, but perhaps it’s not the game for you. But, I hope you’ll stick through and watch it improve with time. (Hopefully).
If you read the reaction to our arrive the Olympus it is clear as day EVERYONE KNOWS WHO We AND CAPITAN GLITTER ARE In fact the group make jokes about how your arrival was hide the woman and children Na lavei has arrived
True, but I was just using it as an example to illustrate they obviously don’t care about the mc as a person.
I think sending an obviously smart person to university, where they belong, would at least have made my mc somewhat happy and earned them some goodwill points, instead they make him retake frigging highschool.
Yes but you specifically said future there and I think it’ll take at least a few years of classes before any person is able to smith something truly nice. We’re going to be starting with nails and horseshoes, not ornamental, ceremonial armours and fine jewelry, after all.
@Rohie, fair enough my mc will still want absolutely nothing to do with “daddy” Hades or any of his “gifts” now. But with the additional changes to the ceremony I can see to mending his relationship with “auntie” at least.
@Rohie So we have keys and we have clothes! Hmmm Maybe my narcissist egomaniac Emo Mara could give gods a chance … Or not she is so herself… She is in shock. Elizabeth Macbeth Victoria would be so apparently pro Gods … Also maybe the little details are no machismo from gods however I would head canon something like that for my role-playing even if it is no longer there.
Well that’s one way to solve the problem
Yay, uniforms!
I believe this has been mentioned in another topic, one about giving the player “fake options” or letting them make “stupid choices” (like bashing a space shuttle’s controls with a wrench as it plummets to earth in the very beginning of a game). It might be quite hilarious if done properly
Granted that might make players, those honestly want to try to pursue a rebel MC, feel a bit… cheated? Forced?
No it did feel like they summoned me to my character, it’s true you can choose to ignore the summons in that particular instance, but that doesn’t make it feel any less like a summons. I think me being quite gay may also have something to do with how I experience the male path as neither I, nor my character, in any way "gravitate" towards Calypso.
If the gods were expecting “straight” attractions from my mc, they’d better think again who they send to “sound him out”.
Whereas my first thought was that my mc would try to resume his existence before being on the run, in which I think he definitely gravitated towards flashier clothes.
In which my mc will definitely not be sorry for defending himself from seemingly psychotic and utterly remorseless little killers.
This is really interesting! There are no alternatives no matter what gender you play. You could open two bowers, play as male, female, or otherwise, and probably only spot a difference in pronouns and names. I’m curious how you came to that conclusion; could you explain it to me?
Both MC’s lack keys. This was an edit error
Maybe a more personal take. The dialogue is exactly the same. It does change if you decide you have a crush on either of the scooby gang, so maybe that’s where it’s coming from. Also, if you ignore Calypso, she ignored you right back. So, there’s that.
My thoughts when writing the game’s draft! Who needs school when you’re literally the ruler of the Universe?
Which is the problem. Lots of things to sort out.
That’s likely it, my mc is interested in men and so far there doesn’t seem to be much possibilities for that on the male path. The scooby gang seems to have wanted Calypso to be our “contact/handler” and it backfired on them in my mc’s case.
If only they’d thought to consult “auntie” beforehand they might have known.
Priscilla doesn’t happen to have a secret vault full of “cash” so we can bask in wealth??
And @Rohie It is subtle but like girl if I go with Aeson or Adonis not only in the party everyone seems like more trusting and give me more citizens and God’s council points. Like everyone expected I have to becoming waifu of them
I second that, where in the male path sending Calypso to my gay mc backfired on them a bit and as a result seems to lower my char’s status even more.
Probably We both find a buggy stats points. But is cool given it deeper meaning it helps fleshed out role-playing. Like Mc against bigoted Old time Gods
I’m a little concerned now . It’s the same scenario with each of the RO’s; they all agree to dance no matter what. How did you approach Aeson and Adonis @poison_mara? With Aeson, the direct approach leads to a boost in the relationship stats, but with Adonis it goes either way. With Saint, you can’t lose. I wrote (copied and pasted) the same reactions for each RO from the citizens. This may again be open interpretation, but none of your choices should reduce your Citizen or Council stats.
@idonotlikeusernames how did you approach Calypso? It shouldn’t have backfired since there isn’t a branch where your partner says “no thanks,” or lowers your stats.
In fact, this event could only raise your stats, especially during the toast, which gives everyone a nice bonus no matter what.
