You mean after “Auntie” kidnaps us from the other gods (including “Uncle”), and goes on the run with us? (And then they find her, and kidnap her, but we slip through their fingers, presumably because she made us untrackable.) That’s exactly the time when they realistically would start looking for us, whether they were trying to kill us, or just “recover us safely” (i.e. capture us and take us back to Olympus, which is what they did end up doing). The gods didn’t and don’t want us dead (yet, that is).
Obviously they are trying to control us while we’re here, though.
Guys for me is clear as the sun we are in JAIL. In a concentration camp trying to brainwashing us then becoming us a weapon which they would discard as broken in the Tartarus. Or worse dividing us in tiny pieces and then being eatten for the gods that way they would becoming the essence. And yeah, they eaten people before so it is no weird
Clearly at least one or more of them do as the brainwashed seekers quite clearly tell that story very clearly. Either they couldn’t control their own seekers or the God in charge of them is the one who wanted us dead and the others clearly exercised no oversight whatsoever.
Or my other theory, sorcerer mom brainwashes their seekers and they let her because they didn’t give a crap at the time.
True, I wouldn’t exactly say concentration camp, but they’re clearly treating us as very much inferior to all the rest of the “children of the gods”, while expecting us to make the ultimate sacrifice for them.
Yep, by giving us inferior crap compared to everybody else at that sham of a school and trying to make us totally dependent on them for absolutely anything.
Though I wouldn’t have put it entirely past our shifty roommate to have pilfered some of the things intended for us.
Maybe she doesn’t want them to use us as a weapon and was merely quicker on the uptake of the mc’s true value than the Gods, I mean they’re an arrogant bunch, it could certainly happen and discovering us being raised in secret by Athena might have confirmed her worst fears.
It would mean that she’s exactly as bad as “daddy” is though when it comes to showing us any love and affection but that wouldn’t come as a particularly great surprise to me.
If she’s (secretly) on Chronus’ side I wouldn’t put it past the author to try to show both sides in an equally bad light. Though under her scheme we could at least pick our own clothes and have relative freedom before our death, so she’d still be the “lesser evil” to my mc.
I start to believe that it’s more likely that the Seekers that got brainwashed should test MC. Just think about the reaction when you spare Saxon, his reaction is: “You cannot be them, you are too weak. He must have made a mistake.”
Who is he? Ares who wants us dead? I doubt it as that is much too subtle for him. Cronus who wants to know if he has a use for us? …More likely. Considering that the Second Titanomachy will come one way or another, it’s likely that Cronus already gets stronger even when by now he is not yet able to directly fight the gods. But brainwashing their Seekers and weakening them from the inside? Why not. By now it seems to be one of the likelier scenarios.
It also could be that “he” is a middleman and not the person that controlls the Seekers. Maybe we also have a third party invested in the war. Maybe mages? Humanity will know about the gods again when the War starts that much do we know, but maybe some humans have a bigger interest in including humanity in the war, so they are not made aware of the gods by the destruction of the war but by the involvement of whatever group could have a interest in it. Or maybe it’s really Priscilla.
Reading that scences and the following one again I also wonder if Athena’s masterplan may includes something to break the rebirth circle of the Essence (I mean besides giving them immortality)…
Well I think that most of the Gods want to do that, by granting us and Aeson immortality (which is why they see us as “one person”, but only when it suits them, not in their day to day treatment of us, certainly) after the trials and then essentially locking the mc away forever in the box, maybe Aeson too, but more likely just the mc.
Mara mentioned the other likely option but that would involve them “eating” portions of the essence somehow, maybe that’s why even pampered Aeson doesn’t quite trust them.
I meant besides giving them immortality… (You answered exacty one moment after I changed that in my post…)
I think it will have to do something with the way the Essence is bound as souls and where it is hold in between rebirths.
That would be the equivalent of eating their soul. Considering the way Athena’s reaction changes based on the way MC acts I doubt it will be that…It also simply could have been her deciding that in case MC killed Saxon, that they just don’t deserve to be immortal… So I would be very wary of her in that case.
I think since Athena’s reaction is based on whether we “forgive” Saxon and let him live, she is hoping we can forgive her too. Not sure if it’s for what she has already done to us or if she will be needing our forgiveness for future abuses.
She is the goddess of wisdom and our happy endings aren’t necessarily the smart move on the gods part. I think she is capable of both truly loving us and seeking our destruction if it is the best move. It explains why she comes across as someone who is resigned to an unwanted course of action.
She has massacred thousands of people in old Times with no mercy whatsoever including women and children so Athena couldn’t say anything about Mara killing someone who attacked her in first place. Gods are pretty hypocrite.
She could kiss my poisonous ring!! The merciless Athena invictus accompanied by nike killing their surrender enemies and take women and children as slaves Was a recurrent theme in old literature. So who is her to judge my character? She is not damn Gandhi!!! SHE HAS POISONED ENTIRE CITIES TO GAIN WARS… INCLUDING CHILDREN. so who is her to talk like a nun?!
Certainly wouldn’t be the first time.
This is why I can’t imagine why she would be so judgmental over us killing the seeker.
But in that case the question is from what MC had to be saved? Maybe killing the Seeker was really a test from Cronus and with MC killing him leads to Cronus being more set on recruting MC?
Does Athena’s plan count on MC using some artefact that like the Heart of past can only be used by those of a pure heart? (Much of a gamble, hn?)
Hades describing dearest mother,
“And you? What do you say?”
“She is *a both.”
The a is doesn’t belong.
I wonder how many Aphrodite kids go around calling all the other demigods condescending family names… Or laughed at for being grandkids of a castration.
Because of Aeson. Adonis said. We were thirteen, I thin*
*think
You’d think Callyspo would be more hesitant toward a romance, does Artemis have different rules? Also is Ares a coward like in the myths or a stand up soldier?
Is there a real reason to be antisocial at the start? There’s no stat boost that i noticed for it compared to the charm from being popular.
Yeah, not happening since he sure as hell wouldn’t have done the same for us.
Yep, we’ve got no input at all if anything is crucial we’re prisoners being badly treated (compared to everybody else in the trials at least) and groomed as weapons to be used and then locked away forever, why should they ever tell us anything we really want to know?
