…but that’s not the same as “That fits with my story, Joe. Good job for figuring it out. You can now live in peace, knowing that you’re free from coming up with crazy theories.”

Aw, don’t be so dismissive. Giving a different perspective is always something worthwhile. That doesn’t make it a worse base for interpretations by default, just a different one.
Were would be the fun if you already figured everything out? What would we have to discuss about then? The thread would spiral down into chaos and derailing
At least you got the recognition that it’s a valid interpretation, even when it may not be the intended interpretation.
I was half-kidding with that comment. Of course I’m glad that my comment was recognized
And are you serious? We’ve just proven that we can have dozens of posts about Lavei’s wardrobe! Discussing plot elements is optional
And I was kidding back…Should I use more emoticons?
And you are right in the worst case we all just would pick apart and overanalyze everything that’s left when the plot got it’s conclusion.
Smileys are always appreciated. I feel like I sometimes sound too snarky if I don’t use them…
Well I think great works are meant to be analyzed and nitpicked even after the plot concludes so…
And if they are not meant to, well, bad luck, fans will do it still for years
You really don’t. At least not as far as I noticed? (Just imagine everybody who doesn’t use emoticons talking and joking in a absolute deadpan voice…
)
…the Internet is a scary enough place without reading everyone’s comments as robotic
If I ever write my own game, the text will most likely include smileys
Really? I would think that would be rather funny considering that certain kinds of humor only work with hyperbole either in emotion or lack of emotion in the speech.
Probably a matter of taste
I hope one day you will change that if to when… - Throws inspiring confetti -
@Rohie About the clothes I understand your point However, We are no normal students, We are the damn chosen one. And we are DELIBERATELY treated as a sewer rat. Everyone goes fancy and according their style Except us Who are giving a generic piece of clothing in the damn theoretical most important day in their lives where daddy accept us !!! It’s like the damn graduation party .People judge leaders a lot for how they looking… A LOT My character feel like shit and let aside and less looking all the rest make up and according her style where she is Half naked bad dressed she even hadn’t time to comb her hair… If clothes are not so important why the others are so carefully dressed and pretty? And why Gods are so formal too? Because traditions and etiquette are important. Nobody goes her wedding in pyjamas!
If this was true, the gods would have probably just kept Lavei in a prison with no clothes, barely any food, completely devoid of social contact, only to be released as a weapon when the time is right.
Please remember that there are a lot of people in the world who would think that the free clothes, food, and education Lavei’s being provided right now would be quite a step up from their own state in life.
Sorry, but I couldn’t ignore that statement.
I’m sorry, but I don’t see the big deal regarding clothing options. The options we do have when it comes to clothes kind of correlate with the personality traits in the stats section, at least I think so. Like if you’re someone who has strength/combat as your main, it would be fitting to choose the sleek black outfit? I think the author has given us a number of options for developing our MCs the way we see fit. In fact, the author has given us way more options than many of the writers on here. They are doing an amazing job!
Except that none of it is “free” and their motives are hardly altruistic seeing they want some big frigging favours from the mc (and then lock him up forever) and are hardly offering anything in return.
People tend to compare themselves to the people around them and there’s no denying that we are most definitely the worst off among our so-called “peers”. Are there poor children who would love such clothes, sure, are they at the damned ceremony, no. Fact remains that the mc the worst dressed person at that shindig and I’m sorry but if I have to be the worst dressed I’m at least going dressed comfortably and not as a penguin.
Also if they’d called off their little psychotic packs of hunters my mc would have done just fine for himself, since he’s apparently smart enough to complete his high-school education through nothing but online courses while on the run from said packs of killers. I’m pretty sure that with more time and less stress he’d have been fully able to obtain a scholarship to a prestigious university and life live on his terms.
Whatever is going on we’re still deliberately being made to feel like the “charity case” of the school.
It certainly is for many teenagers. It’s not the most important day in your life (but it can be the most important day of your teenager-hood easily, I understand) but for many people I know it was certainly the most important day in a couple of years, until college graduation or marriage.
Point is they’ve just spoiled it for us and we’re not getting another chance at an event like that for a good few years at the very least.
perhaps this is why most authors don’t even give the player the option to plan out the MC’s wardrobe…
Not all authors describe the npc’s clothing and style as vividly as this WiP does either.
And look how that’s turned out. Unless the clothing choice will have some technical effect to the story, I don’t see the reason why the MC should have more choices than absolutely necessary. The 3 types of daily wear and 2 formal wear should be sufficient.
Just because we’ve had a plethora of choices in the past doesn’t mean we should in every aesthetic option.
Eh, is the main point of the discussion even that Rohie should add more choices? By now it more felt like using the limitations of the game as a reasoning for further characterization/roleplaying of the MC and their aims. (In the sense of “can’t change it so why not use it”?)
I know that for myself, personally, I’m perfectly happy with all of the clothing choices as they are. In a game such as this, I just don’t think it really matters in the grand scheme of things… Maybe it’s because I’m one of those kids that never grew up with many “options” in the first place and simply threw on the first thing I touched, but yeah. It doesn’t bother me.
My MC’s personality makes up for what she “lacks” in style. (I personally imagined Celeste as a goddess in the traditional Greek wear
) Not to mention we all have bigger problems to worry about than whether we’re wearing crop tops and booty shorts; like the Trials for example… Where people die. So there’s that.
Come on, @Rohie gives us plenty of way to customize the way our character looks like.
I kind of imagined that the three outfits, weither for everyday wear or for the ceremony were made purposfully vague enough so that our imagination could do the rest of the job! What keeps you from imagining that you are wearing make up? Or so much jewelery that it weights you down. Or flowers in your hair like a hippie.
I feel we have become super lazy, imagination wise, if we can’t even fanthom the idea of letting our imagination feel the gaps. Or the blanks.
The point is we are not given a choice, we’re a teenager who is provided with pre-chosen outfits like a little kid while nobody else in the school is. They could at least have let the mc assemble their own outfits, or the author could have avoided the issue by having a school uniform in place for all students all of the time, like Hogwarts, but here all the other characters have their own distinctive styles, except the mc who gets stuck with utterly generic crap.
Not really as we didn’t get to bring any other possessions and the outfits, or at least the casual one, is very clearly described as jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt. If we could have brought some possesions (but remember the mc doesn’t have any due to living on the run) then I could indeed imagine that my mc has a nice belt, ring and necklace to spruce up that boring outfit but it is made abundantly clear that the mc doesn’t have or even own anything except what they were provided by a roommate with the worst sense of style in the game. So far we haven’t gotten a chance to acquire any possessions since we got kidnapped either.
And Mara is also right that we aren’t even given a chance to fix our appearance before the ceremony other than to change into one of those hideous outfits.
So to answer your question as to what keeps me from imagining that, the fact it is made abundantly clear that our mc doesn’t have any possessions except what they deign to provide him and that he knows no one from who he could possibly borrow such things, not touching our roommate’s wardrobe with a ten foot pole.
Well, I also feel we shouldn’t blame it on a lack of imagination if others prefer to headcanon the limitations of the game as further proof for the not so great treatment of/respect for the MC. That’s also a way to use the own imagination. I also tend to play female characters that have a repulsion for dresses and too showy clothes, but as the game limits those choices - for reasons that I absolutely understand and don’t try to challenge by making my own headcanon about the reasons my MC had to accept those choices. After all Rohie was pretty clear that she won’t change it anymore. - I have to think about how my MC reacts to that and also why her caretaker for years didn’t thought about that preferences when choosing the formal wear… I certainly wouldn’t call that a lack of imagination, but working with what we know and what for limitations the game sets.
That’s not automatically a call for “add more choices” (even when it easily could be interpreted that way), but that it seems illogical for someone that their MC wouldn’t react irritated/angry because of it, is nothing to blame either.
