…Big Brother is always watching
sniff
You make me so proud.
Decided to take the Myers Briggs test; ended up getting INFP.
I think they can both, at least, care about the MC, though maybe for different reasons.
I see Zeus as more pragmatic with his relationship with Lavei. I feel like, being king of Olympus, he has to keep the future and well-being of, well, everything and everyone as his priority. Since Lavei is a very important part of said well-being, he may or may not have seen his part in Lavei’s conception as simply his duty. The fact that he “expects everything” of Lavei also makes me believe that he sees Lavei more as a means to an end and would care for them the same way one may care for, I dunno, a very helpful sheepdog or something. Whether that will lead to genuine affection and love remains to be seen.
(Note: my canon MC turned out to be Poseidon’s son so I might be a bit biased towards Daddy Sea-Legs. Take the next paragraph with a grain of salt) Poseidon, on the other hand, is more likely to actually care for Lavei. I believe it was Poseidon who, before the game was updated, asked who would be the Bestower’s parents and what would be done with the Bestower as the grow up (this was after everyone spent a lot of time focusing on the Bearer). To me that sounds like something someone who cares for the well-being of individuals, not groups like Zeus, would do. There’s also the way Poseidon describes Priscilla poetically (“like the calming sea breeze, yet she can also be the hurricane”) and how he expects nothing, no sense of duty or loyalty or affection, from the MC. I took that as “Poseidon kinda regrets the practical purpose of the role he played in Lavei’s conception, would likely have preferred to actually spend time caring for and being there for Priscilla and Lavei instead of being distant as the gods agreed to do, and is willing to let Lavei make up their own mind on what they should do with their life.”
And I’m sorry but does anyone remember what Rohie said about Hades and his motivations? I’m afraid that happened while I wasn’t getting notified for this thread…
I’ll go look for it. Hold on.
Edit : Post 3431
So tiring…
I think that none of daddys loves lavei at all.
Zeus is more sincere, basically said he wants us just to be his champion as a tool.
Poseidon It’s blunty faking be embarrassed and being cute but between lines , the same he wanted something of you.
Hades feels guilty about you and Persefone. You are the mirror of his betrayal. Also for him you are a tool to protect Aeson his real loved child, not you born from a dirty relationship with a human.
I like to think Poseidon will be a good dad and could really love MC. Since he’s the only one who seemed to be genuinely sad about Priscilla’s death and the love he had for her, I assume that love (maybe) would be extended to MC. Since we are like a little mini version of our mom, right?
Zeus seems the coldest to me as well because he expects “everything and more” from us, but Hades and MC just already have that bond even if he’s not our dad.
All said, Poseidon is my fav.
I’ll have to disagree there since all I (we?) know of Poseidon so far is that he’s laid-back (based on the relaxed nature of his other kids), he laughs a lot (he’s got laugh lines on his face), and he can be both straightforward and guileless (“What children?” from the prologue to me sounds like he never even seriously considered the Bearer and Bestower as an option for the problem). He doesn’t strike me as the sneaky underhanded type and I tend to put a lot of faith in the words when it comes to text-based games. Without any graphics, facial cues, or sound cues to base our opinions of characters on, I focus a lot more on the words the authors use and take them at face value (for example, I like to think that Lady Katarina in Guns of Infinity genuinely cares about the MC)
As for Hades, see the post @Nyxerie painstakingly found
. I take @Rohie’s word as law here since it’s her work and her universe. However, my MC doesn’t know this background information and could still, like you said, become suspicious of Hades, wondering if Uncle Henry only cared for him because Aeson’s life depended on it.
@aweepingdalek High five for Poseidon!
If only there is a way for the MC to detect lies…oh wait.
Any speculations as to the price for using the Eye of Alethia? Will it even work on the Gods, I wonder?
Being able to tell lies will be quite a boon, but the price must be quite steep due to how useful it is…
…Free? You can get it after Aeson’s entrance, gifted by an old lady running a charms/jewels shop
Hmm, I was actually thinking about the cost of actually using the eye.
I remember the old lady speaking in a foreboding manner about it…
Sorry. Its probably already come up. How would one get the eye?
I’m actually so glad you brought that up. I feel like maybe I tend to trust people with laugh lines more? They just seem more fun to be around? That relaxed nature and everything, it really reminds me of my dad. But like… way more laidback.
I really want to hang out with Poseidon’s kids. They just seem so cool
Though I will say the broody/calculating types are just as interesting, if not more… I’d just be a little more hesitant to put my trust in them.
There you go.
Well the cost could be the cost of knowing the truth, knowing what someone truly thinks of you for better or worse, their motivations, how cruel they might be.
@Tree After Aeson’s entrance, you have to choose to head back to your dorm instead of seeking Saint et al. or following the medics.
@aweepingdalek I’m a sucker for the dark, mysterious types myself (Lady Katarina from Guns of Infinity, Jess from The Lost Heir…
)
Thanks. I for some reason just didn’t read that
Aeson’s mom is human too though!
I guess Mara is too… angry to see that?
Yeah I am practicing at being mad. For my MC n°2. So I try to see why other people MC are pissed. Hit me with your motivations!
Perhaps the more we use it, the less we can lie?
Also, @Rohie will there be multiple ways of getting Artifacts or is it a one time occurence?
Well, if MC isn’t already hated by others I guess that could lead to that. Or do things like shutting up to be polite not count as lie?
Read mythology… Poseidon was one if not the most vengative and fearful god. Always changing of opinion and tearing down cities in his constant childish angar attacks. Earthquakes and Hurricanes he launchs without care about people at all. Most of ancient times people fear him more than anything else. He is a god not a lovely kitty. Never trust in a god and less if they seem too friendly. I HAVE KILLED MILLIONS OF PEOPLE JUST BECAUSE BUT HEY, LOOK HOW CUTE MY SMILE IS. COULD YOU SACRIFICE A VIRGIN?
I imagine it does. On the long term.
At first, you might use the eye a little too much and when someone asks you something, you cannot lie. But it doesn’t mean you have to tell the thruth.
But at some point, if you might use it too much, you will be forced to speak only the truth, anytime anyone asks! That would be real drawback!
