If one gains immortality, they both do. Their fates are tied 100%
I was thinking that. So your relationship with Aeson kind of has to be pretty good throughout the game. I mean, it doesn’t have to be, but if you’re going to be spending eternity with somebody you might as well be on good terms.
So if the accepted (or at least main) ending is that the Bearer gains immortality, wouldn’t that mean that every potential romance you can have is utterly pointless unless it’s with Aeson? Or did I miss something and the others are immortal as well?
If not, it seems like the fates would be giving more than a slight nudge to get with Aeson. He’s a popular RO anyway, but still.
Even if the MC doesn’t became immortal, the relationship with other demigods (beside Aeson) are pretty doomed. i mean, the bearer destiny is to die young.
Yes, but would you rather mourn somebody for roughly 60 years, or mourn somebody for literally the rest of eternity? It would definitely be the lesser of two evils.
Plus, I don’t care how they would feel about it; I would feel bad about it and that is unacceptable, but if they feel bad about it then I wouldn’t be there to feel bad about them feeling bad, so it’ll be better for me.
Why mourn? Just drop in to see them in the Underworld. I’m sure Hades will let you…
If you’re talking about the Bearer and Bestower, they never go to the Underworld. Re: they share a soul and are reincarnated billions of times.
It’s not like the Underworld is restricted to dead people (see: Heracles, Theseus, Orpheus, Aeneas, etc…). Besides, we’re the Essence. Is anyone really going to try to stop us if we really want to go?
When the B’s die, they become nothing. There is no afterlife for them.
@Sherlock221B
Speaking of mourning, if you have a good bond with Helen, she apparently mourned the Bearer for 60 years herself and refused to talk to Aphrodite for centuries (don’t know if she mourns them for a longer time if you loved her though).
So I guess getting into a relationship as either Bearer or Bestower is more complicated than i originally thought.
Who said anything about dying? I’m talking about just dropping by. I’m assuming our Essence-ness doesn’t prevent us from visiting while still living (like the heroes mentioned in my previous post).
I assumed you meant death, since all the previous posts were about the B’s dying. Sorry.
I was more talking about visiting ROs after they die (assuming we’re immortal). But in light of @Okami-Nora’s comment, I remembered just how many girl/boyfriends we must have down there, so maybe we’ll be visiting for a while…
Omg I haven’t been getting notifications for this thread for the past 2 days… Brb, binging
This just struck me.
If the B’s don’t gain immortality, their RO has to watch them die.
If they do, and aren’t romancing each other, they have to watch their RO die.
Greek tragedies are best tragedies.
Hence: gain immortality and visit them in the Underworld. Or just stick with Aeson.
Yeah, that was kind of my point when I said all the RO’s except for Aeson were essentially pointless. Although visiting them in the Underworld doesn’t really seem like a healthy relationship, and frankly something that I’m sure isn’t allowed; when you’re talking with your potential father, only Hades gives any indication that he knows how your mother is doing, and that’s only because he’s the king of the Underworld.
And @ParrotWatcher the same point applies, but RO or not, if you spend eternity with somebody you either end up being best buddies or mortal enemies. Although I suppose the latter wouldn’t really happen because you’d have ultimate power, wouldn’t you? Nothing could hold a candle to you.
I just got this image in my head of the MC going into the Underworld just so people could tell the MC off. You can’t kill what’s already dead, so they have nothing to fear. I mean, you could obliterate their spirit, but that would probably piss off all of the Gods. Just because you’re omnipotent doesn’t mean you’ll end up an asshole. Although anyone immortal would probably end up a sociopath due to their inability to form long-term bonds and relationships, so it’s probably a good thing Aeson is around.
Wait if the Essence has the potential to take the powers of gods, who says they can’t make others immortal, too? Or get so powerful to force the gods to give them immortality. Or just help them during the upcoming war and demand it as reward?
I mean, should the RO of choice also help the gods to win, I would say that also qualifies them as heroes who deserve immortality, just by the way.
Though that’s only in case that the existing world order including typical ways to get immortal, stay immortal, godly powers, and the power dynamic in the universe will not be shattered at the end of that war.
Part of me really would love to just shatter everything.
Or, hear me out here, you can stick with an RO other than Aeson, procreate with them using divine procreation hacks, watch RO die, realize you’re technically not related by blood to your kid with original RO and they have all your RO’s genes (and none of yours so no risk of making them more susceptible to certain genetic illnesses. That’s pretty important)… You see where I’m going here. Repeat ad infinitum or until mental breakdown.
Also, (hella late for this topic but oh well) I tried to keep my MC as close to my own description as possible and I was pleased to see that the “really tall” physique is just about where I stand
And dang it I was actually annoyed by Aeson’s hero persona but my stats and morality are perfect for the Hero tactic. Hopefully we can be more humble than Aeson…
Also, @Sammysam why stop at making your RO immortal? Why not make everyone immortal? Then humanity will have the time required to take over the galaxy and make Reapers and become Jedi or something
Yeah, sure that would be a possebility, but, eh that also would mean that the people that drive you nuts would be immortal, and always nagging you with their existence, so no. Just no.
Then you can zap them out of existence. Be a Sith and deal in extremes! They either get immortality or oblivion
(I’m clearly not RPing as my goody two shoes MC right now)
