Lol, that makes more sense

Every time I try to start another play thorough of this, something always comes up and take up my time for hours. I need to put some time aside for an hour or so. Missed this so much.

And this game misses you too! :heavy_heart_exclamation:

Take your time. This game can wait.

I make a mean hot chocolate, if that’s better? (vegan or dairy)

Nice! * high-five *

I’m waaaaaayyy to introverted to actually talk with people, so I don’t get perks like that.

:new_moon: :waxing_crescent_moon: :first_quarter_moon: :waxing_gibbous_moon: :full_moon: :waning_gibbous_moon: :last_quarter_moon: :waning_crescent_moon: :new_moon:

Okay, so, I’ve had a very exhausting day, and I’m probably less awake than I was earlier, but what the hell…
(I cannot promise to make sense):

The two points I mentioned (being arrested and accepting the job) makes a lot of sense from a storytelling point, as they both kinda symbolises the Point of no Return.
(Aaand now I’m singing Phantom of the Opera. Stupid distractable brain.)

Up till the arrest, the game is introducing us to the main character (us), and showing the status quo, the everyday, the before.
The arrest is the point where the status quo is broken, where the character can no longer return to their home, their everyday. It’s also a very dramatic place to stop a part.
I do prefer the other option though, as that is the point where the MC accepts their new life, answers the Call. It would make part 2 the journey from accepting the job as an Archangel and actually really becoming one, making the two parts distinctive arcs of the characters journey.

it appeals to my sense of order.

Ah, yes, but that’s actually accounted for, as the quote is something like ā€œany universe that knows both the question and the answer will spontanously implodeā€. My copy of the books is lost somewhere in a still un-unpacked moving box, but you can google it yourself.

:sauropod: … … …:t_rex:

I don’t think I have the energy or brainpower to do any reviewing, so I probably won’t throw any more feedback at you today. :sleepy:

Time to go get a lovely cup of tea!

Yay, my childhood drink!

I would prefer dairy… frankly, I’ve never heard of a vegan hot chocolate

It’s just made with soy milk, but you need to add slightly different amounts of sugar and cocoa to get a similar taste.
I’m lactose intolerant, so I switch between lactose-free dairy and vegan products.

I just watched a TEDx video on modern day slavery, and it left me sad and nauseous, and kinda wishing something like the Archangels would exist and take care of it.
I could not care less about due process, right now…

Time to go see how many people I can kill in one playthrough…

Hiya
I’m new to the forums but now I regularly check up on this tread
I loved the demo immensely and already done like 9 or 10 walkthrough with different characters (I also named my pc Maxwell accidently before looking more at your post)
My favourite npcs so far is main trio of Gabriel and Michael and Raquel (lol can’t wait to romance all 3 of them)
I also wanted to know do you have a planned update schedule or you work at parts of the story and relise them when they are done?
P.S. wish you lots of inspiration for your awesome game :sparkling_heart:

Mmmmhhhhh hot chocolate…

That’s actually Raquel’s favourite drink.

So am I. It was mostly my friend introducing me to people and it was more of a small crowd of people that I talk to, but I talk to them almost all the time. I wouldn’t be caught dead walking up to someone I barely know and starting a casual conversation…

Which is why, this game rarely has views and readers in between moments of hiatus. I barely talk to anyone else on this thread besides those in my forum… I rely mostly on other people’s word of mouth to promote the WIP…

I’m incredibly shy when it comes to posting things in other thread…

You need sleep… and tea, probably even a biscuit or two and maybe a cat on your lap.

Ah, I see… that is actually a viable plan.

I did once think about splitting the first chapter into two (You can actually see in the game files that there are 5 different Chapter 1 files that comes in group of two) But the next time I do the rework I’ll definitely split the first chapter into two while introducing the dialogue.

But here’s where the problem comes in for me personally.

If I were to end the first part where the MC accepts the job, that would actually just continue on to the next part in the same place, and same time, right after the cut. I like to use my cuts to both split storylines but also introduce gaps in time. With long gaps in between chapters, and short sleep gaps in between parts.

If I end the first part in the arrest, that would actually make some sense and wouldn’t be too hard of a rework, but it’s still missing that sense of gap in time that I’m sorta looking for and ends with too much of a cliffhanger.

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I just like to tell a complete bit and then move on to another bit.

Maybe I can put aside what I want to make a clean cut right after the arrest…

might need someone to remind me this when I start working on re-writing the first chapter.

I appeal to my sense of randomness… sometimes…

Already did, already fixed!

Wonderful! Go get that well deserved rest!

Mmmmmhhh, hot Chocolate…

They’re actually quite nice! Rather different kind of milky with little to no cream, but nice!

Yeah, it feels weird but it tastes good!

Fun fact, Hayne and Justin are both lactose intolerant.

Justin, however, is slowly healing as he slowly begins to consume small amount of lactose once in awhile.

Thank you! I can’t believe it myself! Honestly it’s an incredible achievement for me and I remember being so scared about whether or not people would actually like my game and the fact that I rarely update gives me even more of a scare.

It’s been 3 whole years now and I’ve now reached 4 chapters out of 6… 2 more to go lads and lasses… 2 more to go…

In this universe, The Archangels won’t be the one dealing with that kind of thing since Gabriel is busy with his own thing and his sister is busy managing Canada’s government…

The job would be left to the people that Gabriel, Rook, and Bishop used to work for…

This is exactly Michael’s point of view, and Gabriel likes to remind the fact that they try to not become their enemies, to which Michael replies ā€œWe kind of are. We’re only a bit differentā€.

Woo! Deaths!

Just know that Gabriel completely disapproves of killing civilians and innocents while Michael couldn’t care less…

Yay! Thank you for coming to post something!

Wow, that’s an incredible amount of playthroughs

You can’t romance Michael for a few obvious reasons, but you can actually romance Gabriel and Raquel!

I like to make sure I finish what I write before I actually release them, therefor I have little to no deadlines planned therefor this game takes A HECK OF A LONG TIME to write and update. I’m VERY sorry for this…

Thank you very much! My source of inspiration is this game’s thread and it’s WONDERFUL group of testers and contributors! Much love, much thanks!~:heavy_heart_exclamation::gift_heart:

I have had 7+ hours of un-interrupted sleep last night!

I am a (slightly) functioning human being!

I have snuggled my cat, eaten breakfast, had morning tea, and watched cartoons on netflix.

(I’ve also almost had an anxiety attack, because there was suddenly people fixing our roof, which the owner of the building had not told us about before hand…)

I used to be as well, but I’ve gotten better at it. I’m still fairly often an anxious mess while waiting for a response to my posts.
Posting in this thread was actually quite terrifying, as I usually keep well away from the ones with a high post-count. They tend to move too fast, and be full of the kind of fandomism I don’t really appreciate.
This place turned out to be fine though, and the level of response from your side is both welcoming and gratifying. :hugs:

The split wouldn’t have to be immediately after accepting the job. If you want to keep the waking up as the start the part thing, you could have the MC fall asleep as soon as they reach their safehouse in Chicago (I don’t think they do, but I might remember wrong), and then have the split there.

Will we have a chance to make her hot chocolate, then?

Oh, none of my actual characters would kill civilians, if they can help it!

I just had a 5 hour somewhat interrupted sleep, and I just woke up! And it’s currently midnight!

… I really need to fix my sleeping schedule, but now I can’t sleep and I have to go through the entire morning until the sun rises…

Oof… I remember back when I was still in an apartment, there was knock on my door and it was a couple of suspicious looking plumbers who were apparently called for a broken loo. I told them my toilet’s fine and they were like ā€œCould you check?ā€

I immediately went into a state where I was constantly looking back and searching for weapons I could use to fight them off if they ever try to break in through the door… before suddenly, my neighbour walked out their door and told them that they have the wrong apartment.

They said their sorries and walked out and my neighbors looking at me like ā€œWhy are you sweating? Are you okay?ā€

I was up and ready for a bloody fight, my heart was racing a few seconds ago…

I’m still horribly shy…

but having my own game that people actually really does help!

Pffft… I wish there it was like that… I think. Perhaps it’s more of a ā€œbe careful what you wish forā€ type of thing.

That would make too short of a second part…

I’ll figure this out with Ben later once I actually get around to re-writing the actual first chapter. Because that’ll be like. 2-3 updates from now.

If you romance them? Yes.

Good for you!

Is it bad that I enjoy when my MC fails at the dice roll?

Nope! Good to know people enjoy failing in this game

Honestly, the best ones are the critical failures. As a DM, I take pride in making fun of my players whenever they roll a natural 1.

… I have a god complex when it comes to writing the game  Damn it…

Is it possible to set the d20 to always show 1, and then do a full playthrough?
Or would the whole dying thing get in the way?

I kinda want to read all the crit fails…

Well…you can set it at the start of the game in the dice settings… but it will be absolutely hell trying to go through the game. If you want, whenever you come across a dice roll, you can go to the show stats page and then back out again to get a different result.

This is not a bug, this is a feature…

I do not wish to fix this until the game actually releases because it’s such a great tool to use when you want to see other outcomes and then go with whatever outcome you wish.

Agreed! I’ve been using it for testing.
But I think going back and forth until I get a 1 for every die roll will get tiresome!

What are some of your favorite failures in the game? I could check those out without doing every roll.

Oof, there’s a lot of my favourites, honestly…

Because there’s not many of them in general

Most of them are in the first chapter before I went and realized that it was gonna be SO much work to make it for every check.

one of the best in Chapter 1 was in the police precinct where if you decided to get out through the tunnels, you can quickly try to improvise and use your surroundings. If you critfailed, you’d pick up a broom and a metal trash lid and use them as a spear and shield to attack the officer like a true warrior…

Chapter 2 doesn’t have any critfails besides the ones in the heist module.

One of the best in heist modules is the one in the daytime jewelry store heist where if you chose to be the one to handle the crowd, when you critfailed to intimidate them, a rat just goes through the room and freaks everyone out before you could say thing… sometimes I just look at that scene and appreciate how absolutely random it was

And if you try to calm them down and critfailed, a fly goes into your mouth before you could say a word

Also, can’t forget the fly that flew right into your eye at Greg’s first church as you’re looking for another way out as you try to escape with Gabriel and the Ramiels
