@Okami-Nora That’s right! I mentioned a while ago that Auralites will even attack people you deeply hate if you let your emotions get to out of control.

I never mentioned this, but (slight spoilers) some Auralites will be able to speak with you telepathically and may have things to say about how you feel… But it will come across as them feeling what you feel. They don’t have any kind of free will on their own. So far it’s only a couple of them, I may make it so they can all eventually speak if you bond enough.

@seabean Cue the reaper auralite screaming “WHERE ARE MY HANDS?!”

I can’t wait to see how this plays outs with Nora. There’s definitely a good amount of resentment toward Ian and Grandpa’s secrecy, but not so much resentment for the two as people. So as long as they start being more honest or just keep distance from Nora, I don’t think Terra will maul them.

…Maybe. The more I replay and see the responses, the less I feel that Grandpa honestly prepared the MC for anything. He keeps them from summoning their Auralite for a long time, continues hiding things from them, and his over-protectiveness probably doesn’t help nurture a good sense of self-confidence for a number of MCs either. I honestly think if the MC is going to get through this, it’s going to be more because of other Auralites outside of the group helping them out and instinctive intuition and less because of the Grandfather’s training. Not that the training doesn’t help in some way, but training can only take you so far and the MC already feel a good deal sheltered. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have absolutely no idea how to interact with other Auralite users outside of their group.

At least it says something.

I imagine Terra being much quieter due to being a animal, but no less sassy than Nora is. So it would probably be causally grooming itself while looking at others with sassy eyes that scream ‘I’m surrounded by idiots’.

But I love the idea of silent sassy panther speaking its sarcasm with its expressions and body language.

So on a more silly note, anyone want to make bets on there possibly being one Auralite User that tries to deny being romantically interested in MC, only for their Auralite to sell them out (or that happening to the Mc themselves)? or if one of Grandpa’s friend has a apprentice Auralite user who gets a little flirty with MC, only for Grandpa’s own Auralite comes out as he’s like ‘You have five seconds to step away from my grandchild :rage:’.

I have been thinking, will we have an option where we can manipulate and use Shadowras? In the dream we had an option to interact with one is it a way to tell us that even if the MC doesn’t have a white aura he could be destined to something more “dark” ? (That would be sick)

SPOILERS

Summary

You can as soon as next chapter. But it’s a bit of a dilemma for the protag, since it’s in one specific path and you need to give something up… And the dream is actually about something muuuuch later in the story, but I won’t say anything for now. You don’t need to choose that option in the dream to unlock the “dark” path.

Also, while I’m here, I should say I’m done with one of the three paths, and now nearly done with the second. I suppose it could still be a while until the update, though. I didn’t want to release just one path at a time, or leave anything incomplete.

Great good to hear that. And by the way now that i have you attention, is it possible for someone to lose their auralites (can an auralite die) and if yes does that affect the person ?

@pauleno2000 This is totally hypothetical, and may or may not ever show up in the game. Maybe it will if I work with this world in a sequel.

But yes, it’s certainly possible. One of the ways is if you don’t bond enough with the Auralite, it kinda just “goes away”, and you can no longer summon it. You would have to redo the entire Summoning ritual and it may or may not work, since the first time is so strenuous. A second way is if you somehow lose a large portion of your inner aura, which would make you too weak to ever summon one. Ian would be an example of that, though he never had the chance to get an Auralite. Coincidentally, Shadow manipulation means you have to give a large portion of your aura to them, soooo… hm…

As for the effects, unless you lose your inner aura, there really is none. Auralites are nothing but a manifestation of your aura in the end. At most, you’ve just lost a buddy.

Ooooooh so i guess that in order to control shadows we will have to give up on our auralite

If that is the case then its really awsome

Will it be a Persona-like thing where shadows are the unconscious manifestation of human emotion taking form of their more repressed feelings whilst Personas are just shadows though manifested in a different form?

By that, I mean, what differentiates the shadows from auralites?
Don’t answer if there are spoilers tho.

@Sano Sort of. Shadows and Auralites have nothing to do with emotions, or anything like that. They’re just the manifestation of a person’s life force. It’s in the game’s glossary, so no spoilers here, but basically put Shadowras are just the auras of the dead. Some are neutral, some are “evil”, some are extremely strong, and some too weak to even be seen. It depends on the person that died or maybe even how they died. It’s similar to the lore around ghosts.

Shadowra RO? If they’re even capable of being sentient. Being able to romance the would be a cool little thing too.

Hahaha. They aren’t sentient, so no. Also, it’s hard enough for me to write living RO’s.

Interesting thought, though.

Personally, I’m making Nora choose Terra over anything else. Even if a alternate means of power does offer more unique abilities in combat or offers power that develops quicker, they’d just train diligently to become more connected to Terra enough to the point that NORA is the one that causes enemies to think twice about triggering their protective nature rather than just the rare White Aura user Kevin.

@seabean

Out of curiosity, what’s the general concept about how romance is going to be handled in the game (like how many ROs there are in the game, are they attracted to specific gender, etc)?

@Okami-Nora There are 8 RO’s, four male, four female. I planned to gender lock but I’m not going to go through with it, since the choices are already very restricted. Like, there’s an asexual RO, two who are already crushing on other characters entirely, and ones who are going to be tough to romance if you’re working against them. I thought about it, and realized there are already waaaay too many restrictions to add gender into the mix as well.

I understand but my MC
1- Is named Lucifer so\and i want to go with the dark path.
2- I find the idea of manipulating Shadowrars pretty badass plus more unpredictable for other people with the sight.
3- Kevin is the chosen one so i feel obligated to have my MC become his nemesis (if its a possible scenario in the story)
4- In the dream the Shadowrar you interact with hugs you and that means something interesting is up.
Finally, i find it more dramatic if the grandson (for my MC cause he is male) of a teacher who taught him everything turns against him, the chosen one and all his companions (even if Carmen might go the dark side too because of her thirst of power)

Will the MC be completely the initiator of these romantic choices or will a RO’s personality play some role in their interactions the more close they become? for example, if the RO was the outgoing type who isn’t reserved with their emotions, they start explicitly make their interest more evident to the MC, but with a more introvert and careful character, it’s goes more to the MC to make the show of interest themselves? Will the MC be given a chance to respond to romance in different way (like shyly or boldly).

@pauleno2000

I figured it was the case; just like to counteract one MC’s view with another (I enjoy hearing about other MCs’ reasons and desires).

As for my character Nora (since you did bring up the reasons for Lucifer’s actions):

  1. Nora’s name meaning is ‘light’ or ‘honor’, so they are being played as the type of person who will do always try to do the right thing at the end of the day. It’s just that they are not the type to blindly follow someone who doesn’t give enough of a reason to do something while also claiming it is the right thing. Years of secrecy and feeling sheltered for so long doesn’t exactly help promote cooperation from them toward Ian and especially Grandpa Jo either (even if they do care for them).

  2. The moment Nora met Terra, they felt a really strong attachment and desire to fully understand their Earth Panther Auralite. Connecting to their Auralite (for them) was like finally being able to meet a friend that was being kept from them for far too long.

  3. As far as Nora is concerned, no matter Kevin’s apparent role is as a White Aura user, the kid is being put in a very unfair position right now and dragging him anywhere against his will isn’t going to make the situation better and may even make him distrust the others immensely. Nora wants KEVIN to try figuring a number of things out on his own first and feels that there are some thing he needs to learn firsthand and the hard way (including that his awakening to his Aura has effectively made him a target). Nora may actually develop a type of kinship with Kevin, attempting to both let him learn from experience and protecting him when things seem too out of hand.

  4. Nora actually followed Terra; the reasons being mentioned mostly in 2.

  5. Nora certainly not going to a very compliant person in regards to the group (they didn’t even hesitate to not follow them because they didn’t agree with how they wanted to handle the Kevin situation); as long as the secrecy remains, they personally don’t feel inclined to listen to their Grandpa or Ian’s vagueness about why what they are doing is the right thing. They do care about them (even if there’s a lot of resentment toward Ian and Grandpa’s secrecy), but the main thing that they want at the moment is for Kevin to be given a chance to figure some things out on his own and decide for himself what he wants to do before possibly going to their Grandpa.

You can initiate if you have a high relationship, but the RO will only initiate if you have a few (I’m thinking 3-5 or so) romance points with them already. Some will be more subtle than others, and your character won’t have to be confident or flirtacious to get them. Some will be internal thoughts so you won’t have to flirt directly to get those points.

EDIT: Every RO will initiate themselves if possible, by the way.

And yeah, you’ll hopefully be able to RP your character however you like in every situation.

I have a question about the dark path. Once we get into it, will our MC be locked to that path? Or will we have the chance to regret our actions and switch sides again?

Yes and no. I can’t explain much without spoiling things, but the paths aren’t exactly black and white. The stories intertwine, and you aren’t 100% locked into one scenario. But a circumstance will keep you from directly switching paths if you start to regret it.
