The mask is there for multiple reasons, one to protect your face, two to aid in communications with other assassins, three to stop spells that require eye contact. Four bring fear to outsiders that you do allow to see your mask. Five protect your identity. Amongst other reasons. Including your mask, the color, and its arcane powers aids in blending into the shadows and keeping you hidden even when someone is looking right at you.
Divines, who don’t naturally use the shadows don’t have much use for the mask. Although they carry much risk by not wearing one. When one is caught/seen/identified they can easily be traced/tracked.
