An Unexpectedly Green Journey (orc life-simulator) [1.5+ Million Words] POST-RELEASE DISCUSSION- NEW! Speculative poll for focus of new DLC

Hi, mate,

When he is destined… he is destined, if you know what I mean. But he is not always destined.

Depending on your tribal support, the things you have done and the people you have met during your life, the protégé can end up in the province of Greenburg or in the Nagaswelt. In these cases, we must assume another orc will rise to become the Green Emperor, with nothing to do with you.

Also, and I can’t remember the exact workings, the protégé can lead the Dust Clan into intermittent strife until it finally disperses across the Plains, gone forever. Another has the Dust Clan eventually become Dust Town, when the protégé, as far as I remember, is a successful chief but not a unifier of the Plains or an emperor.

A little Easter egg in A Shriek of Ash and Fire: when on the train, Lancer Direct, we pass through Dust Town, without stopping, on our way to Zthullu. (Since the Plains is no more, Dust Town is now in the Rump Enterprise Zone, bordering Gimjym… if I remember. Lol, I have it all written down.)

Hey so I was wondering if you ever plan on adding a cheat mode or something like that?

Already is one

Yep, I decided to have a plot-explainable cheat mode. But you must find it!!! It is only available to adult orcs, those who have passed the Coming of Rage ritual.

Travel to the west and climb to the top of mountains. You will find an old lady, who is actually the Crone of Fate, a goddess. She will open the cheat mode!

Please note the cheat mode only changes your stats. It does not adjust age or diplomatic relationships – this would break the game. If you live to be an old orc and haven’t become King, the Crone of Fates will remove her blessing. This way we can cheat, but in a fantasy context… which is – wink wink – allowable, haha.

Glory be to korn

Or is it Krog…..I don’t know if can’t read i leave it to those Feather twidlers

Haha! Very true, all that reading isn’t proper!

There’s probably some tribe that calls him Krom- sounds like a fine orc name. As long as they mean Krog and not some other git masquerading as him.

Hi, mates,

Just in case you two are passing, I have a question. It is open to anyone else, too.

I have had a player ask me how to get Netherwood Elf archers, not Scorned Elf archers. I cannot fully remember, as I am so focused on ASOAAF1.

I suggested that if they dealt with Netherwood diplomatically, they might obtain Netherwood archers. I imagine it might have something to do with the secret religious lore about Krog and Sapling?

Can either of you 2 Lore Masters, or anyone else, confirm this from your own knowledge?

I am at a point where opening Green Journey on CSIDE and then having to reload and reorder ASOAAF1 files is a chore. I’ll still check myself if no one else can help.

Not just high relationship with the elves, you have to pick which peace route you take, either peace with the elves, or make an alliance with them, the elf parchment can help as well, it gurantees success, although the elves won’t negotiate with the MC who supports and houses Scorned Elves, so the MC has to deal with that first, either handing them over, refusing, or hiding them.

The Peace Route just ensures massive relationship and loot (If going for Trade Agreement) stat boosts, Trade Agreement, Horde Reduction, or Forest Expansion are the only options the MC can go for, although not a great choice to make if the MC opts for War against the Empire

The Alliance Route on the other hand, is more benificial in the long run, the MC has Netherwood Elves by his side, against the empire, after all there is the code *set elforcvemp true or *set elforcwall true .

@NumberedEntity I have found another idea to connect other paths to the Big Belly Path Entry Requirement. With both Cooking Competition and Grog Creation Odd Jobs implemented there before release (They were my ideas) I found an interesting choice in the Tribe’s Odd Jobs, especially with the Hugger Odd Job (Orcs are tough and savage warriors, so it is difficult for them to take this job since orcs don’t really have empathy to others, the MC is a different case depending on the route he takes).

There is the choice “Tell him to fry up some of his own meat between meals to ensure the food lasts longer.” It came from the Big Belly Hugger Path, since the advice MC gives to him means that the idea will be shared with the Big Bellies, maybe you can implement that idea in the next update.

After all…

”Perhaps all the Big Bellies can share their own steaks to see whose tastes best. They’ll love this idea!”

This might be a dialouge and code idea called bellyhuggerplus, and Thubba would say this.

“So, it was you who indirectly suggested to us that we can fry our own grub when you were assigned as the Tribe’s “Hugger”? The boys and I love that idea! After all, fried grub is as good as regular grub.” (I think you can come up with a better dialouge for that)

Then it ends with a +2 bellyrank

Then there is another interesting choice when the MC is assigned to stir the slop pot, it should also be implemented into the Big Belly Path Entry Requirement, but certain conditions must be met. The MC should only stir the proper amount, that way, he produces flavorful slop, I think the Big Bellies would like that.

This dialouge and code idea is called bellyslopplus, as ususal Thubba would say this.

“From what I heard, you made the best slop when you were assigned to stir the slop vats… “ (FIrst +2 bellyrank)
That is just one part of the dialouge, the nest part only happens when MC decides to eat loads of Flavorful Slop
”…Not only that, you took advantage of the job placement and ate loads of it, now that is a true Big Belly!” (Adds +3 extra bellyrank, it is called bellyslopplus2)

(Again, I think you can come up with a better dialouge for that)

Haha, yes, the orc huggers are there for a touch of humour. They are unstable, bottled-up rage incarnate, after all, not really known for stoicism. Of course, our MC’s advice may not be considered to be of a professional standard.

These are great ways to connect the Big Bellies. They would definitely appreciate our MC pursuing the culinary arts even when taking the most mundane tribal job. I don’t think this would be difficult to implement either (would need to check).

Yes, something like this could well be in the next update. Btw, the next update will be in a good while, when I start working on a DLC. It will be a paid DLC, but I will be tinkering a little with the base game too.

@NumberedEntity I have ideas for more Orc Dados for the MC, it is regarding the Big Belly Path, there are titles from that path like the Belly of Ages and Hellfire Guts, then there is Chief Blogga’s Feast, where the MC devours a massive amount of food there.

I think the Belly of the Ages Dado should be several Meat Buckets and Food Piles, the Hellfire Guts Dado should be a Cauldron that is on Fire and has very red liquid, representing the MC’s Victory against the Hell Grog. (These are just my ideas, if you have better ideas for images of those feats, can you let me know? Thanks")

As for Chief Blogga’s Feast Dado… This one is hard to determine the right Dado, I think you should come up with an image of that Dado.

Oh… I just rememberd another one… the Gold Dragon Haggis Feat, I think a picture of that meal would be fitting for a Dado, but I am sure you can come up with a better image of that feat.

Do Big Bellies have Dados of their own? If not, then the MC should be the first who has these dados, especially with the Grog and Steak Dados, being part of the Big Bellies should have a Dado of it’s own, I’ll let you come up of what image or words that will fit this dado.

Those dadoo designs are, as the trendy folks say, peak! Adding new dadoos would be pretty easy for me, so I can do this when I update.

Just to check, is our MC still able to visit the dadoo hut in the camp when that deep in the Big Belly path? I know some paths eventually lock you out, but I can’t remember if the Big Belly one does.

I think there is no Dado option in the Big Belly Path (I think I am wrong), but I think Dadoo’s Doodahs can be a great sponsor to the Big Bellies, as for the question itself, the MC needs to temporarly leave the Big Belly Path to get a Dadoo

Yes, they would be a great sponsor! If the path did lock you out, I might be able to aid a Dadoo store in the big belly events, too. Will have to read through things again when I start considering the DLC. First things first, we will be laying out the foundation for that, whatever it is, before smoothing over a few things in the base game. I don’t want to touch the base game too much, as I don’t want to break it, but these Big Belly suggestions are very doable. :+1:

I found another potential connection, this is regarding the arena path, and how Shufla is assessing the MC’s Combat Ability, it might be a small thing, but the Mock Battle should be acknowledged, after all, it is also part of combat ability, and goblins are quick and cunning, how does Shufla get the information of the MC’s Combat Ability, and how did he know which combat feats did the MC achieve, Shufla wouldn’t be scouting potential fighters if he didn’t survey the MC discreetly, he is a goblin after all.

Winning the Mock Battle as a Pup should be acknowledged, I am not sure if losing the mock battle but being acknowledged enough to transfer to the Raider Grubs is a worthwhile notice for Shufla (Maybe it can be), it just depends on what team the MC is in.

For example (raidergrub true) and (mockwon true) will earn the MC +2 arenaexam, and an extra +2 arenaexam for claiming the Dreg Totem (totem true) in the mock battle.

Another example is (raiderdreg true) and (mockwon true) will earn the MC +3 or +4 arenaexam, and an extra +2 arenaexam for claiming the (totem true) Grub Totem in the mock battle.

The last example is (raiderdreg true) and (mocklose true) but with (noted true) will earn the MC +2 arenaexam, there is no extra arenaexam bonus though.

I’ll let you come up with dialouge for these bonuses

Well said! Shufla is the type of chap to cover his bases and ensure he has the up-to-date rub on the info of his charges. After all, winning the mock battle demonstrates that our MC had the fighting instinct from a young age.

Cheers, mate. Will add this to the list and give it a look for inclusion when I get back to Green.

In various comments, on forums and in some emails, players appreciate old events in their orc’s life being referenced much later. It gives them added significance.

There is one more thing I have to mention, It is regarding the Abyss Belly Title for the MC, it is gained after the MC wins the Pie Eating Contest (I don’t get why a wiry elf can eat so much pie), then it is mentioned in the Young Orc’s Journey when he returns to the Green Gentleman Tavern, the Chieftain Path, the Old Age Path, and the ending of the Big Belly Path (Brief Mentions from the Beginning and the Ending), but when the MC is on the Adventurer Path, and is on a quest to protect the GGT from the Shades, it is like Jim and Gym don’t recognize the MC as the Abyss Belly, not acknowledging the MC’s Pie Feat, I wonder what will everyone in the guild think of the MC’s Feat? Especially with Hot Fingers, who starts a restauraunt in the end of the path and invites the MC if relationship is high enough. He would be amazed that he has the Abyss Belly MC as his adventuring companion and have a big relationship stat increase with the MC.

Speaking of Hot Fingers, does he know about the Cooking Competition from the Freelancer Path that the MC partook in and won, it would be great if he acknowledges that. Oh, in the Old Age Path, he is one of the people the MC can seek help with his “Son” (Because Baborcs came from cabbages).

After all… one of the questions involves this “I don’t understand why we should hate and eat halflings. Why don’t we instead hire them as chefs?", the son has a fair point, but eating Halflings is ancient history that Orcs stick to, I think the Cooking Competition should be linked to this.
