An Unexpectedly Green Journey—From birth to death, craft your orc's legacy

I am wrong, the no dodging part is not necessary

Oh interesting. So clearly, I’m just missing one of the fights in the path. I was pretty sure I’d hit all of them, but I guess there must be one I’ve not seen.

Thanks for letting me know, ready to try again now.

Hi mate,

This thread doesn’t give me notifications or I would have got back to you earlier!

Thanks for playing my game, and playing it to death! Just like an orc should!!!

Just to check, did you fight the secret fights, those against the gnome and nymph? That GOAT achievement is very specific. You must beat every fighter and never suffer a loss. There used to be an error here, which I corrected in an earlier bugfix, so I am 99.99% sure you just need to get in an extra fight. I have seen some on Steam get the achievement. However, if you are sure you have beaten everyone and still have not gotten the achievement, let me know, and I’ll quadruple-check everything again!

And, you can duck and dodge! Ducks just mean what we think, don’t avoid anybody, even the death matches.

@Sujan_Dhakal @Patrick_Cody02

You two big greenies are a propa good buncha gits! Thanks! I appreciate you helping one of our tribe and playing my game until you know it better than I do!

EDIT: I’ve just set this thread to ‘watching’- didn’t know I could. Now I should know when a message has landed, although I think some of the players have mastered things so much better than me now!

You know you can turn on notifications for this thread, right?

Yes! But I only knew this when I last posted here. It happened automatically on my own threads so I was clueless. I’m not an expert on forum stuff, just learned about muting threads yesterday too. Slowly but surely getting there!

Thanks, @AletheiaKnights

Thanks for making the game! It is tremendous to play, truly an epic fantasy adventure with a world that’s so interesting and dripping with lore.

Honestly, it felt like a tremendously full, incredible game on my first playthrough as a Chieftain… and then I ended up finding out that there were so, so many other paths to follow.

It’s masterful. The feeling of taking on the Morgorc, the Cyclopes, the Gods and the Crusade and seeing your allies and achievements from earlier all coming into play to take you to victory is truly glorious.

Regarding my Green Whale of an achievement, I have not found these secret fights, that explain where I’m going wrong perfectly. Any chance you’ve a hint as to where I might stumble onto these final enemies?

Mate, so happy you enjoyed it, and much appreciation for picking my orc game to play. I aimed to make an epic adventure, so your words have added joy to my grog tonight! Always proud to swell the ranks with another green nutter!

To find the special fights, you must make sure you have visited the embassies in Grandardgard well before you get locked to the arena path. In the minor powers embassy, get on the good side of the poor lads and lasses considered to be miscellaneous and unimportant, the gnomes and sprites and things- you can donate some loot to them or, depending on the influence of the orcs, offer them some land somewhere. Also, give the orc embassy a boost. (If I remember correctly, I’m not near my files right now, but it has something to do with embassies.)

When you do this, and when you visit Grandardgard for arena fights, you will find a special ‘arena’ in the parks of the embassy district, where the well-to-do sip tea and clap politely, watching ‘ghastly, funny-looking things’ beat each other into a pulp.

Ah fascinating! That’s tremendously helpful. I’ve got the Minor Races on my side before, but on the path I took to Chieftain when I gave them a slice of land, not when I did my Arena Fighter path.

And bam! That’s it, I’ve unlocked those secret fights and gotten the GOAT achievement, and can happily say I’ve achieved a perfect score on my favourite game.

Thank you very much for your help getting this last achievement, and thanks again for the great game. It was many adventures in one game and I enjoyed every single bit of it, from seeing all the fun things to do as an Orc kid, conquering the world, ending a Cyclopean invasion, slaughtering Gods, stopping a Demon, eating everything possible… Jesus, the fun was endless. Truly superb work, I’m very grateful I had the chance to read.

Hi Steve, glad it worked. I was worried it might have been a bug!

I really do appreciate it when a player takes the time to tell me they enjoyed my game. I made the game I wanted to play, but hearing how it gave others a bloody good time is really something! Also, a massive achievement to 100%. it. You must be among the most legendary of all orcs.

(Cough… if you could, and haven’t yet, leaving a review helps the algorithm!)

Congrats, mate, glad I could help. The follow-up, set 1,000 years later, is a game with a different style and tone, though it is, like Green, very choice-heavy, but not a sandbox this time. It is still a work in progress- the good news is you can play it here for free if you want. The link to the demo is in the first post of the linked thread:

A SHRIEK OF ASH AND FIRE 1(WIP) [approx 150K UPDATE, 1.14 Million TOTAL-22nd June 2025] (1.36 Million on Patreon) - Hosted Games / Works In Progress - Choice of Games Forum

I actually had never bothered to make an account until I played this game, but it was so good, I just had to!

Very excited to hear you’ve already another game in the works, I hadn’t known! That demo sounds delightful to try, I am certain this is going to blow me away and offer many, many more hours of fun and adventure.

The most developed paths are the crawler paths and the Road Fleet Path. Either stay on the train or, if you escape, head south. There is some content for those who escape north to the Cold Pact) but not as much. And if you get into too much bother on the southern path, you may end up enslaved on a Cold Pact crawler, which takes you to the northern path and promptly ends.

You’ll also find lots of other fantastic WIPs to play on the Cog and HG forums, probably weeks or months of things to test out before they are ready for release.

Not just those, there are outside factors that will affect if the MC can Represent Grandardgard, Battles with Dwarves (MC with Green Legion) and Humans, Founding of Krog Rock City, or if the Dust Clan becomes prominent

Hi mate,

Thanks for adding those. I try to give the most obvious things, after a quick code-dive, and have forgotten all of the factors which influence many events now that I am immersed in another project. It’s tricky to follow all the threads. Glad the most knowledgeable orcs have my back!

Oooooooh! I just remembered!

Happy birthday, my great big, gross, green baby.:birthday_cake:
