[spoiler] Ok, so if the gods powers are proportional to the occupancy rates of their respective realms, then why don’t some of the living gods simply allow to the god of the dead to break a hole into the living and then walk into the realm of the dead? Thus weakening their ‘enemy’ and making them much stronger.

You keep mentioning god and/or godess of the dead. Is the goddess of the dead simply a wife of sister or is she an equal counterpart (like a twin)? Assuming the latter, do all gods have such counterparts?

These gods are bound to their realm and they’re not entirely almighty. The natural order prevents them. They can’t just step into another realm that easily. When the Lord of the dead breaks out into the world of the living, his powers are still bound to the land of the dead. Any lord and or lady from the land of the living who ventures into the land of the dead will still bits and pieces of their powers from the land of the living. No matter how many lord and lady are in the land of the dead, if there is only one lord and or lady of the dead, they get all the powers of that realm.

For a much simpler explanation, when a lord/lady of the dead ventures into the land of the living, they get a bit weaker, but they’re still very powerful due to the fact that their powers are not so widely divided. When any other lord/lady venture into the land of the dead, their powers dwindle dramatically due to the fact that their powers are already divided among many others.

Sometimes they know each other, sometimes they don’t. For example, the Lord and Lady of the skies don’t know each bother before they ascended some time after the previous was slain. The Lord and Lady of the seas were in love with one another before they ascended for the same reason. However, not all have counterparts. The Lady of the Shadows for example is the only reign of her realm after the fall of the Lord of the Shadows, and for some odd reason, the island never picked a replacement. And the Lady of Luck never once had a counterpart, nor has she ever had a replacement.

Ascension you say?
How does that work?
Can anyone ascend?
Are there any open slots right now?
What is the average divine mortality rate during each black parade?
Why does the god of the dead even want to cross over?
What happens when two counterparts oppose each other?
Is a new god of the dead selected after each parade(the old one being killed)?
If a counterpart is slain, does that make the remaining one doubly powerful?

Yes

As far as the public knows? Quite randomly.

From the common street rat that is the Lord of the Shadows to the highest Queen Trinity of the Lady of The Sea, the island doesn’t seem to have much of a preference.

Yes, but for some reason, the island doesn’t always fill them.

Half, maybe less. Though there doesn’t have to be a black parade for a deity to die.

Some deities of the dead do not wish to stay in their realm, surrounded by darkness, shadows, constantly managing the afterlife. Though there are some deities of the dead whom are content with it and they don’t always have evil and chaotic tendencies.

They do so quite regularly, actually. Those below experience these as abnormalities in the physical realm such as the tides going the wrong way or rising and falling on odd times, earth quakes, week long rains, year long winters, etc. Usually, the dispute solve themselves, but when they don’t, one is most likely slain, or is forcefully exiled.

If a deity of the dead is slain, a new one will most likely be selected by the island after a month or so. During which, the dead will reign free throughout the land of the living until the new deity assumes control.

No. When a deity is slain, their powers return to their title in which the the island will most likely find a replacement to give.

I’ll clarify what I said about the occupants of each realm. It is not the number of deities are actually alive. It’s how many titles are in that realm. Some titles are temporary, most are permanent. The powers are bound to the title, not the ascended.

There is the odd case of The Lord of the Shadows. He is slain in the 2nd Black Parade, but the island never ascended a replacement for him, nor was his powers distributed amongst the other lords and ladies, and thus leaving the question, where did his powers go?

What about negotiating with the living gods? Could they not just agree to do no harm to or interfere with the living?

As I mentioned before, the island doesn’t seem to have a preference as to who becomes a deity. Somettimes, horrible people ascend to become a deity, and things like the black parade and deicides happen because of this.

There are good people in Trebantaboo, there are also bad people. The deities in Trebantaboo do not always have to be good people…

Yes, I understood that but you can’t honestly be saying that people who are so evil that they commit horrible crimes and genocides simply for the sake of doing it are continually ascended to the same two posts(seeing as there were apparently a lot of black parades).

This is the point where I regret saying that “Nitpicking is encouraged”. However, I still stand by my word. Nitpicking is still encouraged.

When you say it like that, it does sound stupid, though this doesn’t happen as often as you may think. over the course of the entire recorded lore there has only been three black parades, and there has been a total of 5 lords of the dead, and 3 ladies of the dead.

And now, this is the point where I have run out of lore and I shall need time to create more with my game master.

EDIT: To note, some people don’t handle power and responsibility all that well, combine that with the constant social chaos that is Trebantaboo, you have some really messed up people roaming around. As to why the Island somehow manages to pick these people to hold one of the most powerful in the realm, there is a story behind it but it involves the grander scheme of things in which I have yet to complete in writing.

Of The Leather Army? Well, you’re going to have to take their side in the war, but it is possible.

Interesting premise, and so far I’m intrigued by what I’ve seen, though I feel like there hasn’t really been much choice yet to change things. Like, taking that last skill check on the boat into account, there are two different strength options and one dex option… And they all lead to almost exactly the same outcome no matter what you choose and only a very minor change depending on if you succeed or fail. Like, there’s maybe one sentence difference between the different choices. I kinda hope that’s an exception rather than the rule.

I do plan to expand upon the choices available and the outcomes. It’s still in it’s early stage and I am planning on reworking the narrative of the first chapter before moving on to the second.

Next update is coming on the 15th. It still needs a bit of work, but it will contain the following things:

  • Lots of fixes
  • Added a more in-depth passenger interactions
  • Restructured passengers interactions
  • Restructured the character creation
  • Separated background story from class
  • Streamlined chapter 1’s narrative (Hopefully)

Work In Progress (Not currently in the game but is being worked on right now):

  • More meaningful choices - 40%

  • Chapter 2 Part 1 - 21%

  • Melee Combat system - 27%

  • Ranged Combat system - 27%

Very sorry for the slow progress everyone, I won’t lie, I’ve been piled up with work and I’ve been a bit lazy lately and have been procrastinating quite a lot. I’ll be ramping up work soon and hopefully I’ll have more time to work on my projects.

Much love!

So what’s the word on magic and familiars?

It is possible to have familiars for all class (though it’s much easier for the ranger class, and they may have access to different animals as familiars)

And it is possible for all class to gain magical powers, which will be introduced later in Chapter 2, which is currently still in the works.

I think the story is great but will we have the option to be good or evil

Most definitely. Trebantaboo is about releasing yourself and doing whatever it is you wish to do. You can be as good and kind hearted as you want, or you can be as evil and cold as can be.

It’s basically a lawless land, but it’s not without consequences.
