I note, with a sinking feeling, that you worded that in a way in which you don’t specify WHO will be saying it. ![]()
I could never understand Envy. What do I care if other people have stuff? It’s not like there’s a lack of stuff to be had.

The beauty of it is that it can be highly specific to a character like…I specifically want my late father’s starship that I grew up in back…doesn’t matter if I can get 10 objectively better ones as they won’t feel right. It often ties in nicely with revenge…for me at least. And of course in some situations in some games there really isn’t enough stuff to go around…like food during a famine or if the stolen starship had say a more advanced drive system or something else that cannot be easily or cannot be manufactured anymore at all in the current era of the game.
Either way sometimes it is about feelings and sometimes it can be about a situation where there is an actual lack of the stuff you want your character to have.
For my poor Keeper mc it is even just about decent clothes as events have conspired to force him be the worst dressed “celebrity” ever in-game. ![]()
This feels more like Greed than Envy, though. Besides, you can always hit up Leon for clothes.
(and I’m personally majorly meh on this. You give me a hoodie, loose pants, and comfy footwear in colours that don’t hurt my eyes - looking at you, lime green - and I’m golden)
Tbh, the only League member he semi-likes is Forlorn, and that’s mostly because Forlorn is a hit with conservatives. Everyone else can go pound sand, as far as he is concerned.

The sun in the sky, and the two of them on Earth.
Everyone else matters not.
Every time he has to be in the spotlights next to people who are able to dress more like he would want to it is envy.
Leon doesn’t exactly have his preferred style, it’s better than bum style but not exactly what he wants…plus it still doesn’t help with fancy accessories…feeling really underdressed in the Egypt portions, for example.
That’s your mc’s choice to make…but for my mc just about the only thing he ever fancied about American celebrities was/is their remarkable amount of fashion freedom…and now that he is forced to be a celebrity…quite against his will that just had to be the one perk he absolutely does not get to partake in…which causes envy, not greed, at those who can.
Now you’re just trying to make me loathe Forlorn, come on.
Ah-ah-ah.
Forlorn is a hit with Conservatives.
Conservatives are not a hit with Forlorn.
Look back to his Chapter 3 dialogue if you ask what he thinks of Stratton. He thinks him and his wing are not worth the oxygen they breathe.
Forlorn is probably the furthest on the ‘left’ when it comes to social issues and the like, followed by Aki.
Yes, I noted the difference (which is why that “trying” is there - ‘conservatives being a hit with Forlorn’ would put him straight on my shitlist), but “being approved of by conservatives” is not a good look any way you cut it.
Huh, I expected Nova to be top of that list.
That they may be somewhat similar politically does not make my mc trust Forlorn any more nor forget that Forlorn was ready to turn him into a thin paste with little fore or afterthought.
Nova’s… pretty progressive as well, yes, but in his case, it’s more because his own experiences have shaped him to be that way. He’s a (canonically) bisexual immigrant of color.
His views are somewhat similar to Lat’s- note how he’s the only one that raises an eyebrow at a ‘third world nation’ being brought to the G7 meeting, and how Lat is the only one to give a thought to the relations and history behind two of the nations present (this’ll be important later. Lat is from a very white state, half asian, and her ancestry is from a country most people think ‘got off too fucking easy’ thanks to Seeker meddling. You do not want to know what the aftermath of her class first learning about Pearl Harbor was like.)
The League in general is pretty much on the left, which I suppose is partly because of me as a person. The only one I’d suppose is a little blurry is Seeker, and that’s mostly because his view is literally just ‘What Victoria says, except I resort to punching faster than she does’.
What about Mars?
Mars is so very tired.
He disagrees with Stratton in many (most, one could say) topics, and is a fervent supporter of universal healthcare, but he doesn’t think it’s his place to second guess or counter his boss, so he doesn’t share his positions often.
Depending on how you look at it, he’s the least military-minded as well. He doesn’t really care much about that, so he offers a frown whenever he’s told how much the budget for the army grew this year.
Yeah, that’s why I was expecting him to top the list. It’s for a similar reason that, Dark Star excepted, I expect Ignis to be at the bottom of said list: not so much that she thinks those issues are going just great right now, but because her life origins have aalmost never put her in contact with such issues.
Oh, she’s half-Japanese ancestry? Is this ever mentioned in-game and I just missed it?
I suspect I indeed do not.
Again, my assessment of spineless nothingburger continues to not be disproven.
She’s dealt with LGBTQ issues herself, but in general, yeah, she hasn’t gotten a direct look at a decent bit of it. Still, she’s learned a fair bit in more recent years, mostly thanks to the new people in her life. I’ve mentioned in other places that she could have some poorly thought out opinions at times, and that’s when she calls on Seeker to explain why that’s the case.
Yeah, it’s mentioned in the prologue now when she’s introduced. It’s also in the RO section in the OP, and her last name is also Japanese, Kitamura.
Noooope, I actually checked that bit before asking. (alternatively, I’ve gone selectively blind; it wouldn’t be the first time)
I can’t recognise these things unless they match a name of someone I’m already familiar with, I’m afraid, but good to know.
Ah, it doesn’t specify then, my bad!
But yes, she’s half-Japanese. I’m still debating a bit on which of the two parents is Japanese (I’ve already made her mother out to be somewhat strict, and I’d rather not build on the ‘hyper-protective asian mom’ stereotype), but it’ll be brought up eventually.
Don’t worry, I ripped off the last name from a Hajime no Ippo side character, so I’m not exactly familiar either. ![]()
Latooni’s the only one that’s completely a reference, speaking of. ‘Latooni’ comes from the Super Robot Wars games, too.
What I mean is, if you tell me somebody’s surname is Xi, I can venture a Chinese ancestry, or Park and I can venture a Korean ancestry, but if I don’t have a reference I can extrapolate out of, I’m dead in the water.
I just did a quick googling, and apparently, usually speaking, japanese family names are inherited from the father. Of course, “quick googling” has the weight it does, so.
If the US government can’t contain heroes at least not any direct means then could they potentially powerless to stop a hero becoming a villain? Like if they rely so much on us to stop villains wouldn’t they be scared of anyone of the League either leaving or turning to dark side. Btw the ability to turn evil or at least become mind controlled seems interesting to me just see how the rest of the League would handle it
Well, nothing to worry then, I expect most people to be dead in the water when we come to Seeker’s history and Aki’s/Forlorn’s names and families. ![]()
Yes, this is a worry. It’s a huge worry for any country with powered teams.
The ‘leaving’ part is more worrisome than people going evil though, mostly because they think the latter is a self-solving problem. Leaving, though, that’s an issue, because the last time a certain League member acted independently, they stopped an empire in their tracks, pulled a Dunkirk on his own, and savaged that same empire’s capital so thoroughly people nowadays try to say that the USSR, a whole superpower, was the one responsible.
You’re not going to see this, exactly. Still, I have plans that I hope will give you an inkling of what this would be like, I think. ![]()
What did Seeker do?
