A Tale of Heroes (WIP) - 193k words. Updated 31/12/2022 with Chapter 5!

Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, third time its a pattern, I am willing to bet these resemblances is intentional.

Edit: Btw Azy was the first to notice the similarity between Seeker and V

Someone mentioned to me that it’s kind of striking how the three pieces fit together, and while I can say that I did not intentionally mean them to, it’s a coincidence I’m very happy about.

Btw look what I found on Jjcb’s blog

A new Lore article, also let me give you a small spoiler it takes 60 pages to write about Seeker’s disagreement with governments, tbh not even surprised by it.

Pretty sure it’s just me but I can imagine the alcohol reeking off of Kratis in that picture.

Hello! I’m glad you enjoy the story, thanks for the compliments!

To answer your question, yes, the game will continue to be updated. I’m in the process of writing an update right now, it should be out soon.

There’s still other content being done on the side as well! If you check a few posts above you, you’ll see a fair bit of the official art of the characters, as well as some worldbuilding articles that I’ve worked on for you all to see how the world of AToH has developed and what the people in it think.

I love seekers take on the Broken King. The whole, if he is alive he hasn’t bothered us so leave him be, gimmick was so relatable.

ā€œThe dragon does nothing but sleep, and you want to go YANK ON ITS TAIL?ā€

Eminently reasonable of him, but something tells me the rest of the world won’t listen to him in the matter.

But of course, when it’s time to fight, guess who is on the frontlines… :face_exhaling:

Such is ever the condition and reason for warfare, that those that order it never feel its brunt.

Indeed!

Of course, when the guy being burned by it is nearly fast enough to catch lightning, and is supposed to have survived two nuclear bombs…

Well, maybe Washington, Beijing and Moscow aren’t quite as insulated from the effects of war as one would expect.

After all, a certain someone was definitely knocking on Hitler’s bunker when he decided to end it. :stuck_out_tongue:

So, what you’re saying is that Seeker was…

Knock, knock, knockin’ on Hitler’s door.

The one constant between both the Allies and the Axis in the war was the expression they got when their aides told them ā€œSeeker is here to see you.ā€ :stuck_out_tongue:

Ironically, and despite what you’d expect, he didn’t really get along with any of the Allied leaders. Stalin was an asshole and Churchill was an even bigger asshole.

Actually, I pretty much expected that. Surprise-o-meter reads 0.

Also, I can do better than

Seriously, don’t know what I was thinking, parodying one line is amateur-level stuff.
ahem
Don’t you take these swords off of me
Cos I’ll wield them forevermore
I’m skilled, so skilled you see
That now I’m knockin’ on Hitler’s door.

Knock, knock, knockin’ on Hitler’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on Hitler’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on Hitler’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on Hitler’s door

Start building his burial mound
Cos he won’t be alive anymore
Like a storm I’m comin’ down
And am now knockin’ on Hitler’s door

Knock, knock, knockin’ on Hitler’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on Hitler’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on Hitler’s door
Knock, knock, knockin’ on Hitler’s door

At this point, it’s probably something in the water. Victoria disliked all but one of the nation leaders she knew, too, and even the one she could stand, she considered an asshole.

Ignid and Forlorn actually have a softer stance on the people, honestly. Ignis really stans FDR (asian camps notwithstanding), and Forlorn feels a lot of familiarity with the ROC commanders of WW2.*

*These are all hints for the future, yes.

I just love the level of character customization, it looks like the foundation of a great story and can’t wait to see where that goes.

Everything you say is a hint for the future at this point.

Haha, not entirely untrue! I actually expect people to groan when the full story is revealed, so much stuff gets implied in every scene that it may become a chore to read through it with full context.

Even so, there’s something a lot heavier on why Forlorn relates to ROC commanders of the World War 2 era.

That aside, one of the readers asked me why Crete is so isolationist and so assholish to the rest of the world, when they’re a nation that lives literally because of trade and commerce. The Doylist answer is that if Crete is isolationist, I don’t need to work how it has affected the world too much.

The Watsonian answer is here: On the Cretan Character.

You may recognize the person who wrote this.

And what they are implying at the end.

Just a little heads up for y’all.

As I mentioned before, the plan was to release Chapter 5 alongside the reworked Prologue and Chapter 1, but some… family situations have cropped up, and my progress has been a little slow. The rewrites are done, though, and I’ve had some private testers check out the Prologue to make sure it works well.

I’ll be posting that for you all to play either tomorrow or on Tuesday. I hope you all will enjoy it. Once those are out, I will continue on Chapter 5, which is on its last legs, so it should be finished before the end of next month as well.

See you in 24 to 48 hours! :wave:t4:
