When you escape the train, if you abandon him, he will end up with them.
Huh, does that mean he hates you if you later join the cold pact yourself?
He resents you. But he doesnât hold a massive grudge since he finds the Yonders weird and stultifying and looks for a way out.
Honestly same, the legion is brutal but at least after a while they care about you.
Yeah. The legion gets a bit warmer. The Yonders have built a culture around undeath, so I figured they canât enjoy life that much. In the slave path, you can actually find that Frans holds a secret book group, reading plays and poetry. It is a thread I want to carry to the 2nd game, perhaps planting the seeds of a possible Enlightenment.
The slaves are the most humane bunch aboard the Grey Torment, despite the prevailing hardship.
This code doesnt make sense, *if (etherneer) *set intuition %+ 10 doesnt work because if you are a etherneer you get the first result is this just scrap code or a bug?
*if (etherneer)
Granny's lesson do not 'click.' For you, an etherneer, the runes only speak in terms of magic rather than as a tool for engineering. In truth, you find the lesson beneath you. Still, you nod your way through but learn little of interest.
*set intuition %+ 10
*set crawlertime +1
*goto hub21
*if ((engmate) or (mastertinkerer))
Though your knowledge of runes almost matches that of Granny Granite, the practical demonstrations in depicting some of the more important engravings, and the short lectures about how best to use them, sharpens your mind. With greater confidence, you'll be able to apply runecraft in future.
*if (etherneer)
*set intuition %+ 10
*set ingenuity %+ 20
*set crawlertime +1
*set runecraft true
*goto hub21
*else
Through practical demonstrations and short lectures, Granny Granite shows you how to engrave the most common runes and she explains their uses. It is all about listening to the echoes, left over from the Age of Creation, inside the stones. Or so she says.
With greater confidence, you'll be able to apply runecraft in future.
*if (etherneer)
*set intuition %+ 10
*set ingenuity %+ 20
*set crawlertime +1
*set runecraft true
This is as intended. You get a smaller bonus. Perhaps it should be +5% instead of 10. You learn little of interest (as in you learn a little but not nothing), but do not pick up the runecraft skill.
So presumably is just redundant code *if (etherneer *set intuition %+ 10
lol, I didnât notice that. Yes, probably a relic from before I decided to give etherneers their own section. No harm done. Will scrap it for tidiness.
Responding to the +5 that just makes it punishment considering how many other +10 are their in that section
Why not both?
@Jamesboxhanar Haha. Well, they donât lose any skill, so itâs not, in fact, a punishment. But yes, it is a wasted âturnâ for an etherneer. I havenât checked the scene yet and will probably keep it as is, with those lines tidied.
Runes can be multifaceted. On the crawler, it would make sense for etherneers to be taught basic runic knowledge to fill in the gaps of the engine mates, not to learn the same things that the Senior Mates know. Keep in mind our MC is new. If they persevered in âetherneer studiesâ, they would come across and understand the rarer engineering runes eventually.
And make their own runes outside engineering?
Yes, I think the top etherneers could opt to do this, although they have some snobbery towards runes. I mean, if you can conjure magic from thin air, runes can seem primitive despite their ability for âholding and sustainingâ certain magical effects.
What about Runes of Luck? Etherneer MC can pull that off
Well, that would be interesting! Runes of luck! Hmmm⌠Thatâs a good idea for Book 2!
I do plan for etherneers to grow their power in Book 2. As yet, if we donât become undead or a snake mage, etherneers only really tinker with their powers.
Some players might have noticed that the boggarts often reflect changes within the MC â more demonic if we listen to the shadows, rotting things if we delve into Yonder arts. Perhaps the boggarts might change more dramatically in Book 2 depending on our MCâs approach⌠For example, if not a thief relying on âluckâ but one rising to command an army, what might our boggarts look like? What might they look like if we weave intrigue around rival powers? What if our MC decides to use loot to influence others?
I mean, if our MC can gift a bit of luck to people, I wonder what they might be willing to give them.
Cool idea!
What are Boggarts anyway? What do they look like with an initial Ether-Touched MC?
How does this come about?
*if (commsilver)
#Grab the comms and try to convince Avalina that her crawler-made suit has been magically cursed.
*set angacts +1
*set feintsneak true
*set commsilver true
and how does Sera become the snake mage(To be clear I like the name I just donât want to look for it at the second) when your on the ashcrawler
Looks like a bug to me.
She must accept Zuanâs mentorship after the negotiations. I think that her romance path locks her out of it, except when we join the shadow side together.
Thanks @BismDweller - you are right, a bug. @Jamesboxhanar That should read :if not (commsilver). Thanks for finding it. Will be up on the next update.
As for Sera, she is tempted by a dark presence, one planted aboard the Despairâs Demise a long time ago, which certain folk can influence. It is a scheme centuries in the making. Unless you steer her away from corruption, she will slide into it. As an etherneer, it is harder to steer her away.
The Abhidhar plot will be fully explained in Book 1, in the concluding segments, so I cannot reveal all now.
@Patrick_Cody02 Boggarts are scrawny, small, pinch-faced things, often attached to the Crone of Fates. They exist slightly beyond reality, unseen by most. They can manifest to those with a slight taint in their blood, in this case caused by very minor demons called âMischiefsâ, who sometimes serve the Crone, too.
The Crone is neither evil nor good. However, interfering with âdestinyâ (which to some can appear as luck) involves introducing disorder into order. Sometimes the Crone makes use of Tidiers, very minor servants of the Ether, who do the opposite. The Crone, to mortal eyes, operates on whim only. This is mostly, though not always, true. Those who found her in Green Journey (which I know you have!) know she sometimes favours those with the potential to alter the course of fate.
EDIT: Big thanks to the forum member who sent me a list of typos yesterday. Many of you have really been helping with spotting the odd bugs and not-so-odd typos of late. I can only keep saying thank you, but I do appreciate your time. Whatever the future may bring, I consider you part of this project, and you have left your marks on it.
