As far as I can tell it doesn’t matter, your success if yiu have a west point background leads to the allusion you are being considered for a brigade though.
Thanks everyone for all the feedback, I’ve already gone through and addressed (everything?) that’s been mentioned so far. Hope people have enjoyed everything so far ![]()
Currently in the middle of a new playthrough and at the Bristol battle section im having great amusement of a sorts in the fact my boys have managed to take two confederate batteries and wipe out nearly in a delayed firing similar to what we did at pipes creek. Defintly enjoying the variance one can have through playthroughs.
Does it also mean you’ve uploaded the new version with fixes, or just that you have it fixed in your working copy of the game…? Asking because e.g. the letters thing in chapter 6 are still limited to receiving only one and there are checks for unattainable values, so not sure if this is left intentionally this way, or was addressed but the new version isn’t out yet.
Oh no I should’ve clarified - I haven’t updated the demo, all the changes are on my working copy. I’m waiting to release a new update until I’ve gotten a lil more feedback, and have some things ironed out with Act 3 (which is very nearly complete)
Enjoyed the demo very much, plus I look forward to the update. Also glad to see you’re keeping an open mind and it always pays to keep your options open.
@RedizE ive played up to cold harbor with new playthrough and was testing choices to see the difference and found something to note and fix when you get time. If selecting the option to hold at the jump off choice it still treats it like you made the charge and your unit paid price for charging. So there might be a bug in there somewhere with code and showing appropriate text for it all the way through.
Also selecting the cover option a little further past by way of text treats the choice as if you and charged up more fully but by virtue of the choice we shouldn’t have anyone from the wing near the parapets let alone the injured guy we here as a result. So would suggest some tweaking of the text there so the consistency remains intact for the choices we make in that moment and how it shapes things going forward.
Fixed!
During the battle of Gettysburg, just before the charge of 1st Minessota, you have an option to order a desperate bayonet charge with your company.
Suffering proportional casualties (assuming each company had 60 men, they had 28 dead and around 30 wounded based on text, considering the unit size of veteran units and the number of companies present, the 60 man company makes more sense than 100.)
Which would mean your company has been all but annihilated.
I think that it doesn’t make sense for the Company A to be involved in such heavy actions afterwards, or even have any men.
It would make a lot more sense if the 1st Minessota was to follow them, or the entire regiment to charge after seeing the company at double quick, alternatively, the Captain could rally men from the regiment and lead forth.
The desperate charge would have likely left officers and sergeants dead, I always resort to the most extreme attacks and i love that this is an option (desperate charge)
But i think it should make more sense by involvement of more men.
Additionally, it feels like your company is fighting alone for most of the time, facing extreme numbers while not being supported by their own regiment (such as during the charge at Gettysburg)
Also, was there not a scene of the Colonel Preston being captured during battle by confederates? I’m pretty sure you had an opportunity to save him there, haven’t seen it in my other playthroughs!
You’re almost done with Act 3?!? What the fuck? I’ve never seen a WIP progress so quickly so suddenly. Goddamn.
Lol not so suddenly they’ve had a while to work on it in the background. Yet still very good wip and once its all sorted out will be even better. ![]()
The losses you get reported early on in the game are a bit counter-intuitive in that they’re actually applied on whole regiment level. So that 30 men it’s how many the regiment has lost, with your company presumably getting ~1/10th of that on average.
He always gets shot in my playthroughs not captured.
The author is blowing through the demo like he’s Sherman on his way to Atlanta.
I think that doesn’t really make sense in the broader picture, especially considering the heavy fighting of your company and rebs launched a determined attack
I would only loosly follow the early numbers keep to your strengths and you should be fine. In text you will find the numbers are wrong exspecially when it comes to the smaller veteren regiments.
I agree that this is a bit clunky (realistically the loses across the regiment should be higher) but for what’s worth you can always handwave your own company not being completely annihilated after the charge as your superiors shifting some men between companies afterwards to keep numbers in the units roughly even.
At the end of the day it’s not a war game with full tactical simulation, so some liberties are taken.
I’m just giving feedback on the story, that’s all, i don’t expect full realism or complete historical accuracy, but i do want to point things out, it’s up to author to do with that as he wishes.
Eh no worries its something that was pointed out in the past.
