I have no complaints putting Thalia on the list…
Public outrage still wouldn’t be avoided, though. It was a public massacre, and the MC (at least in my play through) tried to leave as many alive as she could. Short of saying she was brainwashed by magic, nothing could have absolved her. Even then, public trust would be lost because the royal retainer and most powerful mage was put under the influence of another. The MC couldn’t have said anything to help them either. The 3 months, if I’m not mistaken, that it would have taken to solve the crime, public unrest would reach an all time high, because if the culprit is so clearly there, why are they trying to find a way to get her off the hook? Plus, yeah, emotional time.
Just make a staged execution like Leon planned from the start?
This argument has been going on for like a year now can we get some new content plea
If I knew how to slap the spoiler blur on things, I would. So if you haven’t played through the book 2 demo yet, avert ye eyes.
The Arcana and Phantasma being on a different continent is a little mysterious. Makes me wonder why the twins didn’t take Eli to their master and handed poor Eli to some rando in Salantira.
I’m also beginning to believe we won’t clash head on with Param. It would be too easy of a fight. They have zero mages with the ability to fight back against Arcana users, let alone four. I think Tahlia might let them fight the empire and backstab them in the end.
If you highlight the text, then click the settings menu in the comment, the dropdown menu will have a “blur spoiler” option.
Every day I think very intensely of how the Mage’s friends/jailers (depending on playthrough and mindset) now think about what happened to them with the whole… Being burnt at the stake thing. We’ve gotten some hints that Eli has become more protective of them, to the point that it might be a bother, but I’m still incredibly curious and excited to see the Mage talking more about it in Arcadia.

@Arella Well guess what, we actually do have this content I̶͎̯͂͑n̵͚̫̝̜̈́͋ ̶̨̪̺̺̂̏̑̚á̴̢̳̱̆͆̃ ̶̡̡̛̭̟͌͜ͅp̴̢̺̗̫͑̒̃͒͂á̸͖͔̹͙̰̀͗̿̂͊t̵̼͇̣̣̿͆̎̓̚͝r̵̜̻͍̺͛͌͝e̵̢͙͚̅̊ͅo̴̞͙̫̍͑ṇ̶̛͙͇͊̽̋̾ so, if I remember correctly, Parivir said that he plans to release demo ver. 2.5 in mid November. If we are lucky, we will get it in the next 2 weeks.

Here’s a what if:
What if MC declined the invitation to join the White Fang and followed through on their original plan of joining a guild in Sienen? Do you guys think MC would have eventually met the gang in a different way?
Probably, we can assume that the mage’s ability would quickly have them rise the ranks relatively quickly, to the point I could see them being invited to the ball that sister invaded. It would play out similarly but that’s if some high and mighties didn’t stop the mage from rising through merit. Either way sister was going to invade so no matter what I’d imagine they would always meet up to rebel against sisters army tho in that timeline it would depend on weather or not the mage was noble enough to stop sister’s bomb going off.
I imagine that if Mage declines allying with the White Fangs then:
Pre-War
-
The Mage never develops any meaningful relationship with Param and its nobility and is not present for any of the White Fang’s adventures.
-
They’ll probably still be doing whatever their side specialty is (Performer, Scholar or Spy) on their travels and doing odd jobs for whatever they can get. Will join up with a different group as originally planned.
-
The children at the start are all killed/whatever was happening to them. The only way to get there in a reasonable speed let alone save them requires Mage’s assistance, who the White Fangs don’t have.
-
A lot more of the sick village people die as well without Mage to assist Ilya in any sort of meaningful way.
-
Mage is most likely not at the ball when Miriel attacks, and without the Mage to provide assistance a significant amount more people die. Leon and co. nearly die as well, but same as in canon The Saintess bails them out.
-
The Mage (and whatever group they finally belong to) is finally brought in to fight Miriel. Except Mage won’t use their Phantasma because they have no reason to. Their allies don’t know they have it and they don’t trust the army enough to use it.
-
The Mage will attract Miriel’s attention, who’ll likely come for them themselves. Miriel will beat The Mage since they lack the experience/skill of War Mage who’ll likely either prefer death to serving Miriel or join Miriel outright depending on how The Mage is characterised.
Depending on that final choice:
Mage doesn't join Miriel
-
The Mage literally just dies. By this time, Since it’s already without Mage’s Phantasma to carry the rebellion then it’s either at a stalemate at best or losing to Miriel who proceeds to stomp out the rebellion and takes over. Working with Thalia of Arcadia and launching the war effort against the other nations from there. Hell Thalia could just do what they do in canon and resurrect The Mage as their servant.
-
Leon, Saine, Ilya and everyone else dies. Depending on how strong all the nations are, Thalia and Miriel either rule the world or are in the midst of a World War. Considering how strong Salantira, Param and Arcadia seem to be though I’m on the side of “yeah the nations with god-like Phantasma mages win.”
Mage does join Miriel
- The same as the other one, except Miriel slams Param even harder. The Mage never used their Phantasma during the war but will use it now and might either use their original Phantasma or awaken the Earthsworn. Without the severe damaging and burnout of the original Post-War Mage, Miriel is even less challenged and Thalia is pleased to have all three of Altinier’s children on her side. While technically just having the Mage won’t make too huge of a difference in the overall scheme of things, it does sway Thalia/Miriel’s army towards winning.
I can’t imagine a single timeline that goes right for Param/The White Fangs without the Mage to single handedly carry the country, the divine monarchy and its church.
And before you say what if Mage beats Miriel during the war?
I don’t think that’s even possible. The Mage by the time of the Ball wasn’t strong enough or experienced enough to use their Phantasma long enough to finish off Miriel and because Miriel is Arcadian then The Mage won’t get any last second Earthsworn power boost.
- If it does happen, then Miriel likely would not be prepared for such an outcome and won’t have The Saintess Bomb ready. Mage becomes a celebrated War Hero who is offered the position of Court Mage as per usual. No killing the saintess = no mage being burnt to death. Book 2 just becomes Mage hanging out and either being approached by someone from Nightsaber to be hired leading to current Book 2 without the “resurrection angst” or Mage rejoins the newly promoted White Fangs (King Leon, Diplomat Saine and Saintess Ilya) to face off the 2nd Arcadian threat.
TLDR; No Mage = Param is royally screwed.
Sorry for the long post.
Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification!
…Hopefully, this means that we can finish the job in Book 2, because… ![]()
@Barroth_the_Mage Yeah, I understand people being upset at Leon (hell, my Mage declared that he would never forgive him), but putting him above Ante or Mireil or Thalia just doesn’t make any sense to me.
If only the freaking idiot had had the wits to wait until Mireil’s journal had been unlocked…none of this bullshit would have happened. Or rather, if Ante wasn’t such a [REDACTED], none of this would have happened.
And yeah, I do not trust Tahlia one bit. She didn’t save Eli, Miriel and the Mage from Thaubal. She knew full well what Miriel was doing, and let her. She sees the Mateus as expendable resources; it’s not about justice or vengeance for her…she just wants power.
Yeah, Tahlia checks too many boxes on the “Are you dealing with a psychopath?” checklist for my Sevan to trust her. So no thank you for joining her cult.
Anyone else notice that she doesn’t seem to give one iota of care about Arcadian lives, despite her rhetoric?
When Arcadians, her so called precious people, had a plague, what did Tahlia do? She let Ell go heal them. Didn’t even send Eli according to Eli’s report, just didn’t stop them.
The Parami nobles who must be hunted down like dogs for how they dare to oppress the precious Arcadians? Sent two princes, a theurgist, and a magical prodigy who healed people, got to the bottom of the issue, and arrested the guilty party.
Yeah, totally doesn’t convince me that Arcadia under Tahlia would be a dystopian nightmare with a ruler who treats human lives as so much dog manure stuck to the bottom of her boot.
Well resources are very scarce. And we don’t really know the lives of ordinary arcadians on our floating island. Maybe it’s a higher strandard of living. In any case, Y was trying to heal someone there so obv. they have things to treat people.
Actually in the game your MC can comment how it’s bad that they are sending just the four of you and basically only one healer. And Tahlia can’t spare much. Even after that intense fight the group had she could only spare one spiritist
something i’m really fascinated by with arcadia is how it feels like no one can just look mc in the eye and say they’re sorry for what happened to them. im so intrigued by this bc the more we learn about all of the arcadians, the more obvious it is that they have a tremendous amount in common with our mage. for all of them, to be arcadian (or at least one with a magic bloodline) is to suffer, to be used, to be isolated. to know that there are other ppl who have been made to feel like they feel should be incredibly empowering! but, at least for mc, i don’t know that it is–they kind of just get jerked from one project to another, same as ever.
i guess arcadia as it is right now isn’t really a place where you can throw your arms around your brother and say "i know how you feel!’ it’s place where maybe one day you can get justice for what happened to you, but it’s not really a place for comfort, you know?
edit: i don’t really hold this against arcadia btw–they’re at war after all–but it’s interesting!
She couldn’t spare mages from what now?
Oh that’s right, killing people for money.
What an awful sacrifice that would have been.
Not that much. A squad of just 25 people. There are probs many other things the resources are being used for too
Yes, the game shows exactly what- spying and magic item creation/selling.
If you are trying to argue that Tahlia doesn’t act like a psychopath arguing that she values money and power is a very ineffective way to go about it.
