Tahlia: “Successfully killed Eli”

Mage: “Unfortunately”

I’m loving all this Ante slander. Give me more. Doing her job my plentiful behind, MC won the war and she has the gall to doubt them prior to her killing the priestess?!
Also, this Leon bbq’d me thing, I’m confused. I get why people are angry over it, but doesn’t it get touched upon in the book itself that there was practically no way around it. People witnessed the MC’s massacre, and she killed the Saintess no less. Even if Leon believed her, pardoning the MC would’ve caused a lot of problems, mainly, the public would lose a lot of faith in him because what kind of king lets the murderer of a very prominent religious figure live? Especially since the war had just ended, and while everyone is rejoicing, the country is far from stable. I’m truly curious what others would have Leon do.

Many people have discussed this already, and the general consensus is that Leon should have kept the MC imprisoned while carrying out an investigation into the matter.
However, as we all know, Leon was too emotional to think rationally. On top of that, we have the spymaster Ante whispering doubts and poisons into his ears about the MC as well as the pressure from the angry public and Church demanding the MC’s death for killing the Saintess and almost a dozen spies (all Ante’s fault). Leon’s fault being he was too emotional and hasty when he decided to sentence the MC to death.
But of course, Leon isn’t alone to blame for the MC’s death. As I’ve mentioned, the spymaster Ante, the Church and the Sienan populace (excluding Ilya and Saine) are all at fault.

Why not fantasise about all the gruesome ways we can torture and kill that pest instead? If I have my way, my MC will go full Wu Zhe Tian on Ante by first beating her half death with a club, then forcefully pull out all of her hair, cut out her tongue, chop off her arms and legs and cauterise her wounds and finally dump her into a cauldron full of alcohol. Sneering down at her while she drowns to her death.

To be fair, Mireil was a Salantir as well as an honorary Arcadian. If we are including her, we should include Tahlia as well. In early book 2, Tahlia admitted that she knew about Mireil’s scheme and she did nothing to stop her.

I can’t lie, I want to bring Mireil back solely to see her reaction to Leon betraying MC and killing them. I wished she would have warned us about him. It wouldn’t even have to be out of genuine care, but an attempt to put doubt in MC’s heart. How MC can do all of this and not expect to be treated like a monster. How she and Eli will be the only people to ever truly love MC for what they are and the monstrous deeds they do. Give me a little mother Gothel in Sister.
