A Mage Reborn, Book Two (WIP) - UPDATED August 7th | Book One Released!

mc really has zero juice just clout-less behavior

There’s also another moment someone on here point out. During the moonvein plague, if MC tries to insist on staying to cure the plague, Leon flexes his status and just orders the mage to listen. Woulda been hilarious if the mage resigned on the spot from their royal retainer position in retaliation for that “royal command”.

you don’t even have to insist! all you have to say is “team, i don’t feel great about leaving these ppl to their inevitable deaths after busting ass trying to save them” and he says “remember your place utility caster.” and he was really just standing around like :person_standing: that whole time. juiceless!

He really said that? Okay, now I’m starting to understand all the hate for Leon.

… I’m switching my mage’s codename from Calamity to Utility Caster.

MC:

Nothing like flaunting your authority to get people to respect you!

Is it too much to ask for to see Barza again? Recruit him to Arcadia’s side as a down low spy? I mean, it was MC who solved the moonvein plague curse. Maybe he’d have a soft spot once he finds out MC is an Arcadian too.

my mc, internally: it doesn’t feel right but maybe ilya has a point we both passed out from mana exhaustion and we kept everyone alive yesterday maybe that will have to be enough we should go get more thurges from sienan.

leon: who asked you support class

my mc: well now i am not going to do it.

Leon gets to flex his royal status to get what he wants because he’s the designated Tank and The Mage is not the team healbot.

But nah Param’s citizens flip loyalties on the dime of a hat.
The Mage singlehandedly carries the entire nation to winning a war
“They good”
The Mage, someone known for their Savior complex and very literally deathly sense of self sacrifice murks someone in a coma
“Heretic! Nothing good ever comes from The Mage!”
The New Saintess, someone who was either in love with The Mage or a Close Confidante sends out a letter saying “mage is good”
“What have we done?”

i would LOVE to see barza again! especially bc we kind of only get to know the 0.0001% of arcadians with powerful magical bloodlines. it feels like theres an enormous gulf what it means to be an arcadian like thalia/flyss/yusuha/us and an arcadian like barza. what do they think of each other?? is there a place for someone like barza in the world our arcadia wants to build?

Yeah, it would be nice to see Barza again and hear what “regular” Arcadians think about Tahlia’s goals. He will probably be sympathetic to us, esp if we manage to save the villagers from the plague. Not sure if he has connections to high places that make him useful as a spy, though I could be wrong.

True. It’d just be nice to get a feel for the Arcadians who aren’t fortunate enough to live in/on Arcadia. It would fun to see their reactions to the lost kingdom in the sky.

Alright that’s it, if I ever see him again, my spirit gates will be 5 feet off the ground specifically for him. You don’t. F***. With the white mage (or spiritist enchanter mage).

You’re right. Or better yet, go to Leon and tell him we might have found a cure for the Saintess and ask him, Ilya and Saine to accompany us to see the Saintess. With Leon’s authority as the king, he could tell the paladins to let them in and let the MC cure the Saintess (undo the detonation spell).

And if the Saintess still remained catatonic afterwards, we can just say, “Damn, I really thought it would work.” while secretly rejoice in our success in saving the entire Sienan Capital.

Don’t forget we were already supposedly at the very last possible stretch of time of defusion by the time The Mage gets there without the side quest of collecting the former White Fangs. If we did literally anything else we wouldn’t even have time to get there let alone defuse/kill The Saintess.

Leon: chilling
Mage: kicks in door “Leon, no time to explain, I have to see the saintess!”
Leon: “What? Why-”
Mage: “Trust me, her life is in danger, WE GOTTA GO!” jumps out the window for dramatic effect

True that. The MC did think that it was a miracle the bomb hadn’t gone off yet after many hours past three months.

Still, since the MC had to spent some time casting sleeping spell on, or drugging (or killing) all the paladins, why not spend that time go to Leon instead?

depends, where in the 9 circles of Hell (mc counted on the way through) was he during that fiasco, in the throne room or something?
