MC: Pretends to be the twin of the MC and mortally wounds Ante and slowly tortures her to death

MC: “Oh, this is personal, pest! I heard you’re the one who is responsible for my twin’s death.”

This twin saga needs to be canon.

Hidden Platonic Option: MC’s identical twin sibling who has the opposite of their magical skills (IE if Mage sucks at Enchantment but is 1 step away from becoming the ruler of all Liches they’re an Enchanting Genius who can’t use Spiritism to save their life) and has disconcertingly identical experiences to the MC but swears they aren’t The Mage.

“Hey guys this is my twin sibling, NMC.”
“???”

Ante:
points at the MC’s original body “You’re the Mage!”
points at resurrected MC “You’re the Mage!”
points at NMC “You’re the Mage!”
points at herself “I’m the Mage! Are there any more of you I should know about?!”
Sunblind/Vision Mage:
“Meow.”

Okay hold up.

Was Ante’s flagrant distrust of us because she had a huge green eyed monster because we were in a position to be closer to Leon than she was, regardless of our actual interests?

I’ve always thought that it was just paranoia of this strange nobody who is extremely powerful, appears out of nowhere, and starts befriending the Royals

Add that we say we’re related to the person who just committed regicide to boot. I’m still of the camp she had every reason to be suspicious of us. Someone had to be.

Previous king of Param would have been enough imho. Just not fond of dying, that’s all

You guys occasionally make me feel normal for my plans towards Leon only being treating him as a stranger. My mage loves Ilya and treats Saine like the little brother they never had. But Leon destroyed any friendship. No elaborate revenge plots, just a cold shoulder. To quote a certain batman actor “you and I are done professionally”.

It’s hard for a simple revenge plot since it’s hard to kill a king. We’re gonna need a well formed plan.

I don’t hate Leon, quite enough to want him dead, my opinion towards him is absolute indifference, what he does, is not my problem unless it interferes with my plans, I’ll kill him if I have to, leave him alive, if I have to, Toss him into a pit of writhing snakes, if I have to, but for now, he’s just some dude that doesn’t matter

Don’t do that. Last time someone tried that, they ended up having the Great Heathen Army invade England after a certain person said “How the piglets will grunt when they hear how the old boar died”

Just throw his ass in a dungeon with a view of the execution stand.

I get where Ante’s coming from, buuut why the hell would mc sacrifice themselves their health and their damn powers everytime they summon their damn phantasma to save the price of crap called Param if they’re a traitor? That don’t make any damn sense, the mc sacrificed too much, much more than everyone from Param to be constantly watched, can’t wait to burn her or do the worst thing the game will allow us to do to her

When Leon got a little snippy with MC for not telling them about their past like it would have done anything to stop Mireil? I really wonder why Tahlia didn’t go all in with sending the Nightsaber to aid Mireil.

INTRIGUED by this response by him bc although i would also not love my bestie keeping super important backstory info from me… iirc leon also did not tell the mage about HIS family situation until ante showed up and like. abducted everyone.

honestly it was a very reasonable response by him in the moment but i cannot get over it bc i really feel like it was the beginning of the end of him not trusting the mage anymore

I don’t really do indifference. It’s a rather alien feeling.

Better question, what was MC’s big plan? murder a dozen guards using their phantasma (despite everyone knowing this puts immense strain on them and leaves them fatigued afterwards) just to kill the (already incapacitated) saintess, with no escape plan or motivation? Why? Clearly there has to be more too it, MC had no motivation, no means of escape, and no step 2 to whatever this was, so it wasn’t a cut and dry betrayal. But you know, HERESY and all that.

Suicidal fanatic?

Especially if you don’t kill the guards. Why would I let them live to complicate things?

you are totally right that has to have been what they thought but like… a suicidal fanatic who waits three years after being in very close prolonged proximity to significantly more powerful people than the one they ended up killing? like no one but ilya and saine thought that was odd? the whole winning the war for them thing didn’t even buy a little curiosity about why they would do it?? param is a strange place

Been kind of wondering, was there an option to just try to persuade the paladins to let MC go to the Saintess? Being super sneaky in that scenario always felt weird and unnecessary to me. Just stride up to the paladins all like: “it is I! The court archmage of Parram, Royal Retainer of King Leomar, hero and savior of Param, Mother of Dragons, I have found the cure for Saintess, take me to her immediately”.
Is it just me, or is persuasion a viable option here?
