Well semi asleep lol but in answer far as I am aware and could be wrong so author might be better to answer.
The mateus bloodline is not just one family it’s multiple family’s of high powered magical capability. We get glimpse of this through the flash back on the fall of arcadia by the various dynasts family’s mentioned.
Does get me to wondering though just how many excaped capture or death. T, Y, and F are the strongest users in arcadia apart from Eli and Mc.
I however don’t see them being related especially directly.
Unless their families were into incest to “protect the bloodline” like the Egyptian pharaohs did, they’re not related. Sure, they all come from the same blood but several generations might be okay since there’s been plenty of genetic breeding that those 3 aren’t exactly full Mateus.
Okay, as someone who has only played the demo for book 1, then the demo for book 2, and learned that Leon has the MC burned alive at the end of book 1, I have a question:
Why in ten hells would the MC ever betray the ones who brought her back to life to help the dick who killed her in one of the most painful methods possible and a group of people she repeatedly risked her life for only to have them salivate over her painful death like a bunch of rabid dogs?
It’s funny… I played the book 1 demo and had a MC who was extremely noble and stoic, helped Leon and Ilya, and could imagine her falling for the blonde douchebag. With the book 2 demo, that same MC was bitter and wants revenge. Arcadia helped her. She’s gotten more kindness from them then she could ever get from Leon and that lot (sorry, any niceties are erased the moment he deep fries her and, from what I have seen higher up on this board, had the utter gall to punch her in the face because she said she’d never forgive him). Seriously, screw that guy.
I haven’t decided if I’m buying this or not, but Falco, Yu, and Eli’s presences in the book 2 demo are making me lean toward getting it provided a few things: a decent romance with one of the three aforementioned ROs, and the ability for my MC to avenge her own death by ripping Leon’s manly parts off and shoving them down his damned throat before burning him the same way he burned her.
My mc still likes Saine and Illya, but has no intention of betraying the Arcadians. They’ve been good to him and he has no reason to dislike them.
I’m actually really surprised at how contentious the Arcadians are since before the fist book came out, there were like, three people who opposed their plan to revive the empire.
Yeah yeah, I know the point of that type of story is that empires can’t truly return and you need to move on but that’s BORING. I want an empire!
I tend not to like empires on principle, and I’m sure there’s a lot I don’t know since I only played the demos, but it’s difficult for me to imagine playing an MC who would betray the people who saved her (and are actually nice to her–even Falco kinda is, ffs). Especially if doing so means helping a man she (probably) loved who murdered her in cold blood for something he knew she didn’t do and a bunch of people who wanted him to do it. Except for Aunt Bess (who I totally loved in the b1 demo), all of them can suck it. If establishing an empire is the only way to kill them all, so be it.
Oof! The angst. XD
I hope you find satisfaction in your plan for revenge.
As for my MC, he has chosen to forgive Leon and all the Parami. But he won’t give Param anymore than he already has. Being a noble-hearted Mage that he is, he ignored Ilya’s advices twice during both the bandit camp mission and the Moonvein Plague arc to save as many lives as he could. However, he will heed Ilya’s advice this time; she was right when she said Param doesn’t deserve more from the MC, so he will not do anything for the nation anymore… unless Ilya and Saine’s lives are in danger. Oh, and Aunt Bess, too.
Yeah, my mage started out noble hearted, and actually still behaves that way with the Arcadia folks, but she absolutely hates Leon and the people of Param now. At least, based on my understanding of what happened…
You say Ilya and Saine were still good to the MC? In the b1 demo, my mage ignored Ilya, too, to save all those kids, and got a bad knee for it (kept making me think of Skyrim: “I used to be an adventurer too, until I took an arrow to the knee.”) but it was worth it.
I’m just trying to learn as much as I can about the story while I waffle on buying it. And I’m a spoiler whore, so don’t hold back if you want to share!
I just played the fan game and loved that the MC can torment Leon and be nasty to him. It was quite satisfying to do that. Just wish he would suffer more, lol.
Edit: Ah, screw it. I’m gonna buy the game. If Adam’s writing can get me this riled up just from the demos, he’s clearly a good enough writer for me to risk it. I’m off tomorrow from work and have time to play it. I’ll likely be on a rant from hell once I finish…
The way I’m seeing the current demo is that the cycle between Arcadia and Param will continue no matter what so my MC is probably leaning towards killing both Thalia and Leon then be done with it. It seems like both paths are basically bad endings for the other faction since if you side with Thalia, she’s probably going to enslave everyone in Param and if sided with Leon, he might end up doing the same thing as his ancestor (I think it is at the least) did against the dude who became the Earthsworn.
I wouldn’t say hate , we dont exactly know for sure, we’ve only had 1 interaction with saine and none with Ilya but it would be cool it they can be turned against leon.
It’s subtle but Ilya and Saine does hate Leon over the whole thing. I don’t remember where it’s been mentioned for Ilya but she acts cold and really can’t stand looking at Leon and it’s mentioned in the epilogue from the demo that had book one in it that Saine gets a dangerous glint every time Leon is brought up in a conversation.
For Ilya it might depend on wether we told her to forgive Leon in the dungeon or not. That choice might be important because that question is asked if you are building a character from scratch in the demo
“Ilya, Ilya listen. I want you to carry that rage for LIFE. I want you to smoke that son of a bitch first chance you’ve got. No matter what it takes, no matter the method, you make him PAY, got it?”
