A Mage Reborn, Book Two (WIP) - UPDATED August 7th | Book One Released!

Due to the most recent mission we had with our group, I think that the new Phantasma will likely play a large part for those who want to get out of Arcadia, or at least want to depose Thalia. The Mage is… technically a necromantic construct, it seems, and Oiral will likely be a help in managing both their nature as an undead, and using their illusions to hide the Mage’s escape. I also think that the fact that a Mage who wants to escape Arcadia likely has similar opinions as Kiara/the Kugen (that Arcadia is fighting a losing battle, and that they are immoral) is a fun bonus! It might make it easier to gain Oiral as an ally, since you likely have similar views as their original partner.

I kind of wonder if having the same goals as your Phantasma makes using them easier?

Personally, I don’t hate Tahlia. If I can help it, I just want my MC to escape Arcadia and leave Tahlia and the rest of Arcadia in peace. However, if killing or deposing her is the only way to freedom, I’ll do it, reluctantly.

@Takashi_Shin
I think there’s some confusion here. We’re talking about being a prisoner in Arcadia in book 2. We’re not talking about being a prisoner in the Param dungeon in book 1.

Yeah, I sympathize with her myself! :grinning: While her actions are definitely morally dark gray, there’s understandable enough background around them that I myself can see why she does them. It’s hard to want to kill her when she’s pretty reasonable (as reasonable as one can be in the… fucked up situation everyone’s in), and we know that most of the people on her side are equally as reasonable. Like, to me, if people like Yu are willingly supporting her, she must not be anywhere near as bad to her people as she can be to the Mage. Can, because you have to try to escape to trigger the worst of it. But yeah, I can definitely see why people would want to get out of there, and one of my Mages certainly also just wants to leave and be left alone by everyone.

It’s been said a lot before but she is a platonic option and you can have a strong bond with her so there are def. more sides of her that we will see

Maybe I’m just a stupid optimist, but I’m really hoping that we can find a way to leave Arcadia when the time comes without having to actually kill our (then former) Arcadian team mates, maybe by having a high friendship score with them? I seriously do not want to kill them, although I have no such qualms about killing Tahlia cos f being used like that.
My male MC was romancing Leon in book 1, and in book 2 he tried to escape Arcadia when he had the chance, and has never committed to joining Arcadia, though he’s went along with things for the time being and been amiable to his team-mates (he’s a stoic peacekeeper sort).
Also, will we actually get the chance to see our Book 1 team-mates in Book 2? Cos I really want to meet back up with Leon before I completely succumb to Eli’s charms. lol.

You sorta have that with saine in book 2 while in that one scene will we have more? Remains to be seen.

If I’m remembering the details that the author gave us correctly, we may end up seeing the rest of the old gang from book 1 in the next couple of updates but I could be wrong on this so take that with a grain of salt.

are you sure since in the book it says setiel was in his past life a knight thus his phantasma is also a knight then he gets offered a deal and then his real self is that evolved form were he no longer satiel but something else with a different name.

You ain’t alone there. I think many people want to escape Arcadia, myself included.

My MC hasn’t romanced anyone so far, but he has a strong friendship with Saine, who is like a little brother I’ve never had. Although to be fair, my MC is also close with Ilya and Leon. Ilya and Saine are true friends, for they believed in the MC till the end. Leon’s lack of faith in the MC really stings, but I still can’t find it in me to blame him despite everything. I’ve chosen to forgive him, but whether or not my MC will still see him as a close friend depends on how things develop down the road.

And Eli, ah yes, that charming childhood friend of the MC. I do find their personality rather endearing, and depends on how things turn out, I might give them a chance at romance if I’m feeling good enough about committing to a serious relationship.

As a side note, my MC had an encounter with Saine during the Blue Harvest Festival. Seeing the state the poor boy is in broke my heart. He still grieves the MC’s death to this day.

I feel as if most of us give up spending time with the arcadian teammates to have an encounter with Saine. Just wanted to rip off the mask and let him know he has no reason to grieve anymore. And also he carries that letter everywhere! He is like a little brother, he and ilya are the reason I cant fully side with Arcadia if they go through with death to all paramis especially royals.
For Leon I am still unsure. I cant fully forgive him nor can I fully hate him. Just have to wait till we meet him to know how my mc will react.

That’s what I meant.

You don’t have to give up spending time with your Arcadian teammates just to have an encounter with Saine. You can first spend some time with any two of the three Arcadian ROs (Eli, Yu, and F), then check out of the Square and return to the inn before the fireworks start, and go to the inn’s rooftop when the fireworks begin. This way, you can spend some time with your Arcadian teammates AND have an encounter with Saine. Of course, only if you are ok with not watching the fireworks with one of the Arcadian ROs.

I find Tahlia kinda as complex character (which I enjoy out) and I understand her hate to destroy Param too, I hope I get to see more of her I will keep supporting her cause as long she lets my mage get rid of Param and burn Leon as a pay back lol. I can’t stand it him. Love the writing dear Author.

My personal theory in regards to Phantasma is that people who stick with Arcadia will keep Raegusa, and those who try to escape will end up with Oiral. Raegusa is very adamant that no Arcadian person will ever suffer again, so, I find it difficult to imagine that he’d be too happy with us going against them.

In terms of spending time, I like to end the festival stuff with the Arcadian teammates! I think it may be because I’ve actually found myself sort of liking them more, in terms of how their stories seem to have been before we met them and in regards to their personalities? Yu is a very interesting case of someone who agrees with an end, but tends towards much milder means, but despite that, they still stick around with Arcadia.

F is a bit of a classic tsundere, but I think they actually have perfectly valid reasons to dislike the Mage and be wary of them, and I think there’s more to their situation than we’ve seen so far. They’re also just hilarious to pair up with a more lighthearted Mage (esp if that Mage is actually very competent!)

Like, I adore the White Fangs trio, but something about Yu and F just make me think that my Mages in particular will have more interesting dynamics with them; which has been true so far!

Admittedly, 2/3 of my Mages also want revenge, or at the very least to never have to be ā€œusedā€ by their former friends again, so I can’t see either of them feeling particularly happy to go back to Param anytime soon.

I forgot to mention this, but even though Leon has lost faith in the MC, he still decided to grant the MC a swift execution. I think he, and later Saine as well in book 2, mentioned that the Church wanted to take the execution into its own hands. I imagine that if it was up to the Church, the MC’s execution would have been a lengthy and humiliating one, and the MC would have suffered a lot before death. I believe Leon’s granting the MC a swift execution was his last act of kindness for the MC.

Of course, this doesn’t negate the fact that the MC’s blood is on Leon’s hands as well as the hands of all the people of Param, except for Ilya and Saine.

This may mean something for some people, and nothing for others. I imagine some people might find it easier to forgive Leon because of this, myself included, and for others this doesn’t help with the fact that they feel betrayed by Leon’s lack of faith in the MC.

Honestly yeah, I can definitely see what you mean! I doubt the Church would’ve been any kinder to the Mage than Leon was. He at least made sure that they’d die rather painlessly, even though he still, did make sure they’d die.

It’s horrible, and an unforgivable act for most, but it could’ve been much worse. Imagine if he let the people of Param quite literally tear the Mage apart. Eugh.

This brings another thing to mind for me: I’m really excited to see if we’ll get to talk to some of the characters about how the experience hurt the Mage. Especially with Yu, F & Eli who weren’t present at the time. I also want to know how they feel about their new ally/friend/partner having been quite literally roasted alive by their enemy.

If you side with Arcadia, and bond with them, the fact that the Mage was mistreated so badly might add even more fuel to the already burning fire for some of them!

But wasn’t there like a mention that the church almost took the case from Leon and with Ilya at the top there is no way they would do anything to the MC. She would do anything in her power to try and hold any rash decisions and maybe have enough time to figure out the truth.
I still think Leon made the worst decision with such a swift execution
