There ARE no kingdom politics in Param besides what the king says, goes. Because again, the king’s bloodline is the only one for whom the deity-given magic-cutting sword works for. This is actual irrevocable evidence of their divine right to rule, and Paramites are all religious drones.
Like, these people routinely engage in mass fratricide at predictable times. If this was in the real world, the original Parami royal bloodline would’ve lasted like three generations, tops.
LIke, this isn’t even the worst of it. These people can’t mass Spirit Gate reliably, the biggest strategical weapon bar none.
Off-topic, but am I the only one here who thinks that demon worshipping is not ok and it’s gonna backfire on mc one day big time? The way that earthsworn demon thing looked and acted seemed super sus to me.
Ah, I remember when I used to play King Arthur: The Role-Playing Wargame back when I was a child also I remember having to be very careful, especially when doing a Tyrant run so that I don’t have to deal with peasant uprising constantly which weren’t a great threat but were very annoying. Same with CK3 nowadays.
Nobody’s demon worshipping. The phantasma aren’t demons. The Arcadians aren’t demon worshippers. This is literal made-up Jovian propaganda. The Arcadians are animists, and the phantasma are nature spirits.
The thing about the kingdom being a horde of religious drones doesn’t really fit, though. It’s no different from feudal Britain or France or Russia, just with magic. Yes, there’s visible evidence of the divine right to rule thing, but people back then believed in that even without evidence so that’s not saying very much.
It’s extremely different, because the Jovian Church literally heals a bunch of people in front of everyone. And they’re the only one who are allowed to do it, because they kill anyone else who tries they can get their hands on.
You don’t need visible signs of something working for people to believe in it. The church here is clearly an analog to the Catholic Church, both of them struck hard down on anyone who they considered heretics, both had extremely powerful figures who were revered, both had large amounts of political power, both were revered by the populace
We know what happens after death. We’ve BEEN dead for a year. Thalia brings phantasma-bound people back form the dead. The MC (and presumably Eli) remember what happens when they’re dead. There’s no indication of “paying for it somehow”.
And the populace then was, as well, a bunch of religious drones. A rather large number of people still are.
It’s not too good to be true, for it to be too good to be true then anyone would’ve been able to use Phantasma
Even among Arcadians the people who are able to contract the Phantasma are few, it’s not like every arcadian can have ultra magic it’s just the mateus of good bloodline
And it seems the MC is the most Pure blooded arcadian left out there
I think the MC only gets this because they’re carrying around phantasmas they shouldn’t. F spams her phantasma all the time with no ill effects. Eli also did it during the first Moonvein Plague.
U really doesn’t look so well after using theirs. For MC, the new one might not be as torturous, but it’s not exactly a walk in the park, either. And F seems to have a comparatively weaker one compared to most of the others so that might have something to do with how they’re not too affected by it
