A Mage Reborn, Book Two (WIP) - UPDATED August 7th | Book One Released!

I had my own theory about Ante being a deep cover agent for Arcadia before as well XD

She is too damn suspicious

I still think Ante is a spy for Arcadia or that she’s acting in arcadia best interest without being aware of it

If this were the case, Mireil wouldn’t have needed the war in the first place, and Saine and Leomar would both be dead by now.

Being “too damn suspicious” is literally her job.

Sometimes a prejudiced and incompetent idiot is just a prejudiced and incompetent idiot

LOL i would definitely not convict based on our current evidence!

I added a bit at the end though

Maybe she’s behaving in arcadia best interest without her being aware of it ? Hmm maybe she got manipulated into thinking the MC is a threat by arcadia however arcadia knows that they can’t manipulate her into harming the royal family as she is too much of a blind loyal idiot ?

Could easily manipulate her insane amounts of loyalty towards the royal family into thinking the MC is planning to kill the royal family

That plan sounds too convoluted to be possible. There’s only so many variables you can throw in to a plan to the point where it just becomes hard to manage

Same, I find these types of discussions super fun to read.

Yes, mc’s background revelation has left me dumbfounded at the time. Drop a bomb like that and get away scot-free? Seems kind of unlikely to me, too. Sitting on the information on Sister and making a conscious decision to never share that info with anyone until pressed for it, was extremely nearsighted, naive and selfish of mc, imo.

So, the fact that Leon chose to accept mc’s story might have been more than him giving mc the benefit of the doubt but also a second chance. Killing the saintess however further exhausted his already shaken trust in mc. Add to that the fact that mc couldn’t divulge anything due to the collar, Leon’s lacking understanding of magic, public pressure, Ante’s pestering, his promise to Julius and himself and I don’t think him sparing mc was ever an option.

I wonder, if mc got the chance to have that conversation with Julius about mc’s past and background, would Ante/Leon still be this suspicious?

Pretty sure no, because if Julius found out MC would be either executed or exiled.

But that information, mc’s knowledge and proficiency were too valuable an asset to lose, no? Mc would have played a pivotal role in stopping Sister if mc had somehow managed to present this information in an amicable way.

Julius comes across as a reasonable ruler to me, building bridges was his goal and upon learning that a neighbouring country was overtaken by a psycopath I’d think he would have at least given mc a chance, no?

Don’t underestimate the extent of prejudice Param has against Arcadians

MC lucked out that she was needed during the war otherwise I have no doubt the church or Leon himself would’ve killed the MC as revenge for his brother

I hate to break it to you, but the moment they learn the MC is of Arcadian origin, the value of the MC’s life plummets to about zero.

I have no idea why you’d think this.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t mc only find out about their origin only a few minutes prior to killing sister? And even then there’s an option to refuse to believe it. Played the game a while ago.

Depending on the dialogue option you choose, your MC could have either just found out about their heritage or have previously suspected they were Arcadian.

I was really shocked too! mc was even hiding it from us for christ’s sake. their argument is that no one would have believed them, which i think would have been fair if they hadn’t been hanging out for two years already! the white fangs at least definitely would have. i think they’re right that it wouldn’t have made much of a difference if they’d come forward with that info though. even if julius would have taken mc’s word that there was a palmerra hostage crisis in salantira, he seemed hyper committed to the diplomacy route for dealing with salantira–for better or for worse, that’s what his whole reign was about.

it was a blown call by mc but i think we were always heading for a surprise invasion. in their defense, the white fangs (i think it was leon’s idea?) also withhold pertinent information until they’re forced to reveal it too.

Do you think it would be hard for Ante to track down the origin of the MC from the information she provided about being kidnapped by Thaubal ?

The MC being the offspring of high level Nobel of salantir was bad news on it’s own, now imagine Ante tracking down the origin all the way to arcadia ?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure it was mentioned that Julius was going out of his way to mend bridges with the Arcadians and he was actually succeeding somewhat. He was also throwing resources into getting rid of the plague, as well

Julius was fixing broken bridges with regular Arcadians

Now what do you think he would do when he finds out the “demon worshippers” are back ?

Deus Lo Vult !

Yeah, exactly that. I remember him trying to prove to sister while she held a claw(lmao) to his throat that he’d do anything to atone for their sins and years of injustice.

Correction incoming: what Julius was doing was throwing Arcadians into literal reservations, and he was only doing this because of political pressure from Salantira (which was being de facto run by Mireil) and Salantira was paying for most of it anyway. Julius wasn’t “mending bridges with the Arcadians”, he was making sure his kingdom’s most relevant trading partner continued to be a trading partner, mostly at that trading partner’s expense, and that just happened to involve throwing Arcadians into reservations.

I think, based on nothing much so this is mostly speculation, that Ante also doesn’t like mages in general.
