You are able to return home to your family (providing you are not kept because of…circumstances). If you had enough wealth and land granted, this would be possible, I don’t see why not. I’ve added in more family ties in the start of the story so you have more of a connection to this line. ---

Could our MC become Akolouthos (I believe that is what the head of the Varangian Guard was called), though I read that the titles was normally given to native Greek, though I also read that a single Anglo Norman was given said title, though idk how credible that info is ---
